Facts: Each book is approximately a tad smaller than 4" x 6", each of varying thickness. All have gold leaf (edging). The pages are thin. The font is small but clear. The books are fiber hardcover, and have a matte paper dust jacket. Each has a dark red satin ribbon bookmark. There are a few 19th-century style illustrations in each volume.My opinion: I absolutely love this set. The publisher was "Collector's Library" under the Barnes & Noble umbrella, and they made several classics with the same book binding style. There is a more contemporary feel to the books than the classic Oxford Illustrated volumes (which are also fabulous) because they don't contain anything fancy.This is the sort of set that you would treat well and wouldn't mind reading repeatedly, but for which you might hesitate to loan to someone else because it's so nice. It's not a throwaway paperback. If you want explanations, extras, and heirloom quality, go see the Oxford set. If you want something simple, sturdy, small and cute, go with this one.

This is a review for the book set, not for the stories themselves. I purchased this set as a gift for my wife who has long been a Jane Austen fan, but for some reason didn't yet own any of her books. She loved the set, and commented on the high quality of the books themselves.The books are fairly small, but the perfect size for holding in your hands. The pages of each book have a gold edge, which adds a nice little touch and makes you feel as though you're reading a little treasure. The actual text size is probably smaller than what most people are used to, but my wife doesn't seem to have trouble reading it. She seemed very happy that each book had it's own attached book mark ribbon.I can't comment on the stories as I haven't read them myself, but my wife loves them. I know that the books are classics, however, and I am glad that we own them. The shipment itself was quicker than expected, I am very pleased with my purchase.

I received the books ahead of schedule. They were carefully packed and in like new condition as stated. I bought these because it was the best price I could find on the internet for a set in this condition. They have beautiful dark red cloth covers underneath the paper jackets, ribbon markers and gold edging. The print is small but clear. A very nice collectible set. I'm extremely happy with my purchase.

I know there is a seventh novel from Jane Austen, however. I wanted a collection that was small enough to travel with, and sturdy enough to take a beating from kids. I know that is sad to hear from someone who reads, but this isn't going to be sitting in the corner in TLC. It's great. The font is fairly big, and the pictures are in black and white on some of the pages. I am loving the pictures. The book is very tiny. I thought it would be impossible to read, but it's good clear pages, and font, with pictures of 1800's style. love it. I enjoy reading it, and enjoying the presentation of the novels. Good for a person just learn about Jane Austen.

I almost did not purchase these because of some of the reviews that said the pages were thin and the print small. I am sooo.. happy that I decided to go ahead and purchase these any way! They are gorgeous!! I do not feel the print is all that small and have had many books with much smaller print. The print is very clear and I can read it fine even without my glasses. The pages are a wee bit thinner than your average book however, they seem to be very sturdy. This is a set that I will cherish and I am very pleased with them. They are small but adorable! I love this set!!

For those lovers of dear Jane Austen's classics and for those collectors of fine editions this is by far the most beautiful collection a Janeite can possibly own. The pocket size of each novel is very comfy, fits everywhere and they're just too irresistible. They're all hardcover and come in a pretty box featuring Miss Austen's portrait on one side, an index on the other and the top side is actually decorated with fine red satin fabric. Each novel comes illustrated by Hugh Thomson!!! Their pages have golden borders and a ribbon to mark where you stopped reading. It definitely makes a great Christmas present!!!

I ordered this set from an Amazon vendor in the UK Brown-Books-UK. Despite being in England they only took ten days to arrive in well-packed perfect condition. This set really is exquisite, the books are smaller in size (like books were in Jane Austen's day) than today's format. The box and each book are covered in fabric, the paper quality and print are excellent with gold edges, plus each book has an attached ribbon book mark. One couldn't ask for a more pleasing set. The stories, of course, speak for themselves to which any Jane Austen fan could attest. I would highly recommend this set to anybody wishing to purchase a Jane Austen set for either themselves or as a gift.
