Miko Brand Freeze Dried Soup, Vegetarian, miso, 3.24 Ounce (Pack of 12)

I was skeptical. Freeze-dried miso soup? In THIS economy?! How good can it be?! But I wanted something warm/comforting and easy to make on my lunch breaks, and the price was right, as were the reviews, so I bought a box. Japanese food is my single favorite, and I eat a LOT of miso soup. Having said that... This is shockingly good! It's just a notch below the best restaurant miso I've had. Miso flavor is very good, and the tofu, nori, and scallions rehydrate and feel/taste close to fresh. I couldn't be happier! But hey, this is just my taste buds talking. If you're looking for great miso soup that's easy to make, give it a try. My only suggestion is to add a touch LESS water than it calls for to ramp up the miso flavor. Experiment a bit until you find the right balance for you.

Absolutely love this miso soup as a light lunch or as a low calorie late night craving filler. I've tried quite a bit of vegan miso soups (and make my own when I'm not feeling lazy), and this is hands down the best. The soup comes in freeze dried cubes which dissolve in seconds and contain a decent amount of tofu, seaweed, and green onions (a lot more than expected without sacrificing flavor!). Just don't fill up the bowl too much (3/4 cup) or else you will dilute it and it will lose some strength. My only complaint is that this method ends up using a lot of packaging which is wasteful. It all comes in a box, which contains the individually wrapped soups, and each wrapper contains a tiny plastic tray which holds the freeze dried cube. Quite a bit of plastic unfortunately--more than any other vegan one....but that flavor man...

I love miso soup. I lived in NYC for a few years and it became my obsession as I had never had it before that. Since then I've become vegan for health reasons (strangely, not while in NYC despite how "cool" it is to be vegan there) and miso was no longer an option. I've been looking for a suitable alternative and found this. Let's get this right out of the way- this is not as good as other miso that I've had. It's actually not even close. But as a vegan and a guy who has struggled with stomach and gut problems for most of my life I have a very good tolerance for alternatives that aren't the "real thing". Basically vegan alternatives to meat and other animal products, I find that I am way more tolerant than other people I know when it comes to food passing my taste test standards. In my opinion this miso is close enough for me to say that it's really good despite not being on the level as those that contain the fish. I'm gonna rate this high but it's not a five star no matter the criteria, I believe it could have used slightly more salt though that's easily fixable. If you're looking for restaurant quality miso you may want to pass on this one, but if you're vegan or vegetarian and not a food snob you might find that this is a good alternative to the real thing. This will be my regular go-to from here on out, though if anyone has any suggestions for a better vegan miso please let me know!

Calling all fans of miso soup! Miyasaka miso is well worth a try. Healthy and delicious. I wish this soup had come to my attention earlier. Easy to make. Put cube in cup and add hot water. I like to add mushrooms. If a poll were taken it's likely at least 9 out of 10 samurai would recommend Miyasaka Instant Vegetarian Soup. I could say why but the FDA has rules about making certain claims regarding foods. Better if you buy the miso and try for yourself. I consider this miso an ethnic food that anyone could relish. Convenient to take along or enjoy at home. Individual pouches. I hope they produce a TV infomercial for this product so I can watch while enjoying a bowl of Miyasaka miso. You might want to add a miso soup spoon to the shopping cart when ordering.

This brand is very good! Easy to make! One package to deal with, unlike other brands! I gave a 3 star only due to I like another brand even better! I would recommend at least try one r!

Incredibly easy to use and great as a quick side to a meal. I found it a little salty for my personal taste so I don't find it great to eat on its own, but it's absolutely delicious! Even just opening the package makes my mouth water haha It also reconstitutes exceptionally well, the tofu is soft and tender and the seaweed has a delightful texture as well, you'd think it was fresh!

Loved having these around. So perfect for days I want a soup snack or when I’m feeling sick.
