Great for use on painted walls
After a long search I was very happy to find this 2ft level. I have a 4ft version of it made by Empire that I use mostly to hang pictures. They are good for hanging blinds too.The back on these levels are nice and flat allowing the placement of thin dots of felt on the back to protect painted walls. It's hard to adhere any felt or other soft protection to traditional carpenters levels to prevent them from leaving a mark on a wall. My 4ft was difficult to use at times due to it's length, so this 2ft one is greatly welcomed. It's a tad pricey, but as far as I can tell it's the only one on the market less than 4ft, so I latched on it. It's good quality and like my 4ft one it should last for many years. I just wish I had come across it a long time ago.I would definitely buy it again.

Works great
The level is true, and this little baby helped me hang curtains on a window 13ft wide. So worth it.

Excellent layout tool
This is a great layout tool. I own the 48" version as well but the one I have is less accurate than my 24". I use these professionally for wall layout for artwork in museums. There's a "0" center and imperial scale markings outward from center to each end going from 1 to 12 on one edge and an imperial scale from end to end having 24inch markings. Both scales have fractions of 1/16" as the smallest scale markings. I only wish there was a metric centering scale printed on the tool as well as it is obviously designed for wall layout. The markings are printed and hold up well. The tool is very light weight and the material is great for placing on white paint without leaving any grey marks the way an aluminum tool would. The tool is 7/16" thick, 2" wide and 24" long. If you place the level flat to the surface, the markings face you for easy reading. The edges that the scales are printed on are beveled toward the back of the tool which places the markings close to the surface that the tool is placed on which makes it easy to accurately make layout marks on the surface with a pencil. I hope this review is helpful.

Basically good but quality varies
As a retired curator, I've used combination ruler/levels for many years to hang art on walls. I have vintage Empire white plastic BubbleSticks in 2-, 3-, and 4-foot lengths and anodized aluminum Speed Levels that are 2- and 3-feet long. While excellent, they all have one problem in common: in a tight space, they are too long with no options for a shorter version. So I've been wishing for a 6- or 12-inch variant. I was happy to discover this 12-inch Mayes Level Ruler and ordered one immediately. The Mayes product is solidly made and appears durable. But here's the quality problem. Note in the accompanying photo the distance between the end of the ruler and the first increment. It should be 1/16 inch but is closer to 3/32. So if you start at this end of the ruler (as is most likely), the entire scale along that edge is 1/32 off (3/32 - 1/16 = 1/32). No, that's not a lot, but in my view a ruler represents a standard and should be visibly accurate. The manufacturer must think so, too, since the illustrations of this product show the correct distance. And by the way, none of my vintage ruler/levels has this problem.*****Okay, the preceding was my original 1-star review. Rather than request a refund, I decided to give the product another chance and asked Amazon to exchange it. The scale of the replacement is correctly situated and that makes it a keeper. Hence I'm upgrading the review to 4-stars. (I'm still withholding 1 star due to the quality problem that was my previous experience with this item.)

The perfect tool for mounting pictures
No more juggling a ruler or tape measure and a bubble level. The plastic material will not scar paint like a typical aluminum level. The fact it is made the U.S.A. only makes it more appealing.

Excellent level ruler
Easy to read, straight, large numbers and bubble level! The bubbles are excellent for leveling. Just wish the hanging hole was on both ends, not just one end. Other than that, couldn't have asked for a better level ruler

It’s not what you think it is!
I draw a lot, so I couldn’t wait to get this ruler. You know how hard it is to draw a straight line on a piece of paper? I figured that having a level on it would be perfect! Well, that’s not how it works! If your surface is flat, like a piece of paper, it shows it as being level. Your line can be crooked and it still shows it as being level, so it’s basically just a level to tell you whether or not your surface is flat. UGH! What a disappointment! Maybe someday I’ll need it, but I doubt it.

¿ Cúantos milímetros tiene un centímetro ? - How many milimeters does a centimeter has ?
