Knife Mechanisms Just for the fun of it!: BOOK ONE

What a Great book on how knives actually fold and work
I bought the sample Kindle edition and gave it 5 stars, and give the full book the same rating 5 stars. There is no other book like it for those who are into knives and specifically folding knives. I have been looking for this kind of information. Every aspect and concept of how a knife actually folds and opens is discussed, it obviously took a lot of work to write this book in such fine detail. It presented a whole new way to look at and think about how a knife actually locks open. I have much more confidence in understanding knife mechanisms. Like the description says, the information was technical but there were a variety of lighter moments. As a collector I really found it fascinating, and as I am also beginning to make knives, have learned things that I knew little about, like "assisted opening" and how springs work in a knife that will help me in my hobby. The drawings are very helpful and correlates to the text, so its easy to understand the specific concept in detail. There so many views of the internal parts of knives, both drawings and photos.I credit the author for writing this book, its the first of its kind.

The best (and only) book on knife mechanisms ever!
Sometimes, when an individual has rather obscure taste, they have difficulty finding literature pertaining to their interest. When these people do find something in the desired field, often times it is rather jejune. Luckily, this isn't a problem with Mr. Price's book. As one could infer from the title, the author's writing style is anything but formalistic. His language has a chipper goofy tone that one would expect in a conversation with friends. Yet, for all his levity, the author manages to cover an exceptional breadth of locking mechanisms with a level of intimacy that betrays an impressive knowledge of his subject. Furthermore, thanks to the extensive presence of pictures and diagrams, following along never became difficult even when the technicality of the subject increased. In short, I really enjoyed reading this book, and I learned quite a bit about the inner workings of of some of my favorite things. LeRoi Price has written what is the definitive text on knife mechanisms.

Great book !! Lots of detail and fun to read !
This book is great. It is a wonderful combination of drawings and explanations.I enjoy accumulating pocket knives and this book has great information into how they work. The drawings are clear and show the internal workings of many knife styles, some I'd never seen before. This makes for an interesting trip into how all of these parts come together into a knife and what makes them work.It is obvious that great amounts of effort went into this book and lots of knives were dismantled in it's production.Unlike some knife manuals that feel repackaged this is the source others will be going toI highly recommend it for the book shelf of any knife enthusiast

A fantastic resource!
I just received my copy of this book and quickly thumbed through it.I am extremely impressed! The amount of time and effort that was put into creating this is staggering. This information is not available anywhere else unless you personally own a very large knife collection and are willing and capable of disassembling and draw blueprints of all of them.An incredibly value for any serious knife collector or knife maker or anyone who is fascinated by the mechanics of knives.Thank you LeRoi for all the effort and dedication you put into creating this.Absolutely wonderful!

Outstanding!
Outstanding! If you are at all curious as to how knives open and lock in place this is the book for you. The book is written in a very entertaining way that makes what could have been very dry material very enjoyable to read. The book has a nice combination of drawings and pictures to help explain the inner workings. If you are looking for information on OTF you would be better served to either purchase LeRoi's e-book on switchblade mechanisms or wait for his next book.

Impressive
This is just what we were looking for. Lots of detail. Written in an easy to read fashion. Lots of diagrams that explain what is being talked about. Would love to buy an additional copy in ebook format of the whole book rather than just the sample chapter that is out there.
