I have cerebral palsy and find it very hard to walk long distances. Otherwise my life is generally like most normal people, but every summer I am faced with the same challenges questions like: How can I enjoy the nice weather and go on outings with my husband and children without getting too tired and without my legs aching too much shortly after going out? These poles have done the trick!! They are not as bulky as actual crutches but they are extremely sturdy and trustworthy. With the help of these poles, I can keep up with the rest of my family and build up the muscles and stamina that is necessary to take them on hikes and treks, which is their original purpose. Two thumbs way, way up! Thank you!!! Review: Cheap product. - One pole stuck before I even had a chance to use it. Cheap and waste of money. Zero stars.

Too difficult to adjust!
I shouldn't have ignored the low star reviews for these poles. They look wonderful and seem made of quality materials, but it is horrible trying to adjust them. I finally got one adjusted but could never budge the other one. The instructions say the locks can get tighter with use and if this happens use two pairs of pliers to loosen. I was unsuccessful loosening that second pole. The locks are made out of fairly soft plastic so even with using a cloth between the pliers and the locks, the locks became indented from the brutal force needed to try and loosen the mechanism. I was never able to do it. I am sending them back but now can't loosen the pole that I did adjust to get it back into the box. I am walking over the Pyrenees Mountains and want easily adjustable poles for uphill and downhill. These are not the ones!

They're great. I went on my first hike with them ...
They're great. I went on my first hike with them in Southern Utah- Never failed. Easy and lightweight. I hiked 15 miles and they helped every step of the way. I highly recommend them.

Heavy
These poles are much heavier than I anticipated. I haven't hiked with them, so can't report as to how they perform on the trail. But I wouldn't want to have to tote them in my backpack. I guess they would be okay if you weren't much concerned about weight, but if you are travelling halfway around the world and need to pack light, or if you are trekking for an extended length of time, these seem too heavy and bulky. I did try adjusting one of the poles indoors. I wasn't able to tighten the locking mechanism for the bottom section enough to keep the pole from collapsing when I put my weight on it. Also, whenever I moved the pole, something rattled inside one of the middle sections. I am returning these to Amazon, and investing $55-$60 extra to get trekking poles that are half the weight, with flip locks. For someone who wanted to do some local hikes (not an extended expedition) and just wanted a sturdy pair of walking sticks, these would be fine--provided the locking mechanisms weren't pesky. Maybe I got a dud. I'd like to think a pair of decent poles could be had for this price!

light and easy to use
Got these for nordic walking around Seattle. They are tough, light, and easy to use. They CANNOT be beat for the price.

Hard to adjust
Got the poles and tried to adjust them and oops...pulled to hard and the poles came apart. I could not get them back together. The one pole that I did get to adjust once I got it to my height was so flimsy that I thought it would snap during use. The locking mechanism was difficult to adjust. Turning and tighting not really working for me. The anti-shock part was inside so not sure how that was going to work to help me. Back to the drawing board. I guess you get what you pay for...these were inexpensive in price and felt that way also.
