Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?: The Play-at-Home Companion Book to the Hit TV Show!

This book has 75 quizzes, with each quiz comprised of ten questions (two from each grade level from first through fifth grade). Each quiz has questions from a range of subjects without any particular theme. There’s a $1,000,000 bonus question at the end of each quiz, with bits of trivia sprinkled throughout the book. Questions include multiple choice, true/false, fill in the blank, and short answer. Subjects are the same as those covered in the TV game show, and include spelling & grammar, astronomy, social studies, geography, history, math, science, English, music, computers, measurements, literature, art, and more. Answers are found in the back of the book.This is a fun book to keep on the coffee table or in the bathroom. We’ve used it instead of playing a game on family game night. Because of the wide range of subjects and levels of difficulty, it can be enjoyed by just about any age group. Just don’t be disheartened when the kiddies can answer questions that you can’t!

We have the hand held game also, but wanted a book for the times when you only have a few minutes, not enough for a whole game; or when several people want to play along. Good for car also as long as the reader isn't the driver of course. A little easy at first, but gets more difficult as you go. Everyone can play at once, one reading out loud and checking answers in the back of the book. Younger players can feel a part of the game by letting them answer the easier questions on every "quiz".

My husband is a school bus driver with a high school route and then a grade school route. As the students are sitting on the bus waiting to go into the various schools, they play this game. Using the questions as fodder for thought, they play to see who can answer the questions first. Many times it is not the high schoolers who get the answer but later when the grade schoolers are on, they are correct. They love the interaction and not having to be graded on it. This book was a terrific addition to questions that fit all of the students.

As I looked through this book I realized how much I found out about the things I often thought about. Very interesting!!

Great fun to keep the mind tune up

I gave a single ladies buffet for our subdivision -- program is "Are you smarter then a fifth grader? NO, we are not!, but had a fun fun time finding that out!!!

very disappointed in this book. I requested a second copy as I had assumed the answers would be somewhere in the book, but there were none in the second book either. I thought I read at least one review that indicated there were answers. Is there a separate book with answers?

I used this for a zoom event. It is a lot of fun
