On Becoming Preschool Wise: Optimizing Educational Outcomes What Preschoolers Need to Learn

I’m a big fan of Babywise but have been disappointed with this book. It oversimplifies things and definitely uses examples of relatively compliant children. It doesn’t seem to take into account that there are definitely some strong-willed children out there (like mine) who don’t just say “yes mommy” because you’ve told them to. There are some good principles in here, but more spirited children will require strategies beyond what this book offers.

My nephew has 4 kids, the oldest of which is in his last year of school. My nephew grew up an an inconsistent, undisciplined environment, and as a result, he never finished assignments, and therefore, never finished school. After he got married and had a child, he woke up with a start one morning with an urgent sobering thought. What an awesome and important job he had before him! He actually became a changed person at that moment and all of a sudden started devouring every book he could get hold of. He and his wife have used the techniques from Ezzo "On Becoming" books from birth, and the result is, there has never been a nicer set of kids. When they were little (3-8 ish), they visited for a week, and in all that time, I never saw a tear or heard a squabble, or even a discouraging word from or between the kids. They were very loving with their parents and had fun with them. I was praising them with their mother when they were getting ready to go and she said quietly to me "actually, there were 2 spankings upstairs during our stay". I couldn't imagine it. I have been giving Ezzo books for gifts since.

All of the books in this series helped me tremendously with parenting.

Great resource for wise counsel for raising a child today. Delivery great.

I used to be a preschool teacher, and now that i'm at home with my preschool-aged daughter, sometimes i feel like I'm not giving her what she needs. I loved reading this book and seeing how I can fulfil her needs at home and also prepare her for the future.

I am a huge fan of this entire series. I recommend them to everyone. The books present very clear, simple and straightforward approaches to consistent and kind parenting. I have Babywise all the way through Pre-teen wise. They are underlined all over the place.

Schade, dass es nur den ersten Band der Reihe in deutscher Übersetzung gibt.Man muss nicht die gleiche Haltung wie die Autoren haben, um Gewinn aus dem Buch zu ziehen. Es enthält für die Altersgruppe und das Thema „Schulreife“ (welche Fähigkeiten sollte man vorher fördern, Stichworte Impulskontrolle, Aufmerksamkeitsspanne, sozialverträglichkeit) viele bereichernde Anregungen.

We bought this book and others in the same series after some friends recommended them. They're very useful.Raising kids is never easy and they give some great tips about understanding why your kid is acting out and then, how to deal with it in a consistent and constructive manner.Highly recommend these books especially if for your first child and like us, had no idea what to expect!

Not a big fan of the overly christian and gender -specific advice but everything else - the scheduling and the attention to helping your child to learn to focus so that he/she is ready for school - is just incomparable with anything else I've read for parenting.
