Pilot Automotive,Inc. Cz292cf Shark Fin Antenna Review: Perfect. I already had my antenna off the car ... - Perfect. I already had my antenna off the car so cleaning the old coating was easy with a wire wheel.I removed oem cover 1st and then used a wire wheel on a grinder to clean off original coating. I also chose to cut upper portion of original cover ensure clearance into replacement cover. I then reinstalled cover onto antenna base and adhered the new cover on top of it with some windshield urethane to ensure it was sealed for weather (silicone causes problems down the road). I then installed it onto the car and it looks better then the original at a fraction on the replacement cost. Review: Easy to use. - Easy to install. No it’s not an actual antenna replacement but a good fix for outdated ones. Used on my 2002 Saab 9-3 se and looks good.

A great disguise for a battered fin carcass.
I purchased to disguise the horrible carcass of my original shark fin on my Saab 9-3. Strange that the car still looks new, except for the fin and the Saab emblems.. When I took off what I could of the old fin with a pair of pliers,( I have no patience for tedious, annoying things) I had an odd lump left. I took this fin out of the package and put Auto Goop on the base and pushed it on. I had read other reviews that stated the placement of the fin took a stronger than usual adhesive and ordered the Auto Goop at the same time. It actually looks pretty decent. It does not look perfectly sealed to the car if one was to stare at it at close range, but it is no longer an eye sore and I am very happy with the purchase.

Covered my SAAB 2005 factory shark fin
Perfect fit. Used it to cover the old antenna on a 2005 Saab. Peel the 3m adhesive pad on bottom away. Carefully razor blade off the rubber coating from the car's antenna. Mine was all cracked and peeling. There's a hard plastic underneath the rubber layer. You don't have to be super careful with the rubber layer, small remnants will be fine. Test fit the cover over the car's antenna. It will not reach all the way down to the roofline. Apply a liberal amount of silicone adhesive/sealant, push on firmly, wait a few hours. I did mine in the evening so it sat around all night. You could then silicone the crack between the antenna and roofline, but factory antenna always had a gap as well.

Just a bit too short for our car
Nice pattern and build, but was just a bit too short for our 2004 Saab 9-3 so it exposes some of the lower part of the original antenna underside. But, does the job mostly and no one will notice from a distance.

Too much gap
We took a chance even though other reviewers listed a large gap. Same problem for us, we have the inner antenna on the roof and just needed a cover. We removed the bottom adhesion and placed this cover over the inner antenna but this cover doesn't come close enough to the roof, there's way too large a gap to fill it with silicone. We threw it out.

Quality Product
This product is durable and priced right. The antenna fit over the old one just about right. However, It has to be secured over the old antenna. First I had to put some industrial strength super glue in the tip and use some double sided tape at the base of it and use a sealer at the bottom where it met the surface of the car. After doing that, it looked like a new antenna, rather than a cover.

Good replacement for 2010 Saab 9-3.
An economical fix for my 2010 Saab 9-3's rotting shark fin antenna problem. I carefully cut off the old rubber and plastic cover (in my case with the base 9-3 the "antenna" doesn't do anything) leaving the metal bracket on the roof. Then I trimmed the double-sided tape so that the Pilot dummy antenna fit. I doubt the tape would be enough to hold this thing on...I used clear silicone caulk liberally to make sure there's a good secure seal.
