Convenient "standing desk" solution!
Well, I'm getting older, and my body is a bit less happy with me these years (although no one should be sitting for prolonged periods, at any age), so things like marathon work sessions seated at my desk are yielding some health concerns. Knowing the dangers of long term sitting, I have been eager to incorporate some kind of standing desk option into my office, but both cost and size have made it somewhat impossible, for what is on the market, unless I re-think my entire office. Plus, I still have the need to have a sit down space for some projects, as well as for meetings, so just getting rid of my current desk set up was not an option. So, when I saw this, it seemed ideal, and I liked that this seemed to be portable and versatile, as well as quite affordable. Now, I don't use it as perhaps intended, from the standpoint of it leaving it sitting on my desk, all the time, in the flat position, to be deployed from time to time, but that's because the added height is not workable to leave it on my desk that way. When "closed," meaning when it's as flat as it will go, it is still 3.5 inches high, and obviously having your working desk top that much higher is going to be noticed. For me, it means a "flat" surface that is too tall. So, that means removing it, when using the desk to sit, and hauling it back on there when I want to go back to a standing desk. Now, this thing is a bit heavy and awkward to carry for one person, and in fact it says for one person not to carry it, for concern of accidentally deploying the table, but I've found that it's fairly simple to move it and set it up. It's not super convenient, and I am careful when doing it, but, as opposed to no option for a standing desk, I'd much rather have this one, that is as portable as it is, because, once set up, it's really great, very sturdy, and has a large enough surface to be a usable work desk.Another option I've found is that I have a folding table, about 20" square, that is strong enough to hold the weight of this, so, on days when I really need my regular sitting desk, I set up my table, off to the side, put this Stand Up desk on top of that, raise the Stand Up desk, and it comes to a perfect height, so then I can sit, and stand, and vary my routine to keep the body from being unhappy, plus it gives me two working surfaces, which is really handy. What's absolutely great is that I can then take down the desk and table, and put them away, and clear up that space as needed, so just the fact that is is a collapsible solution is outstanding, for me. As for the size and heftiness, it's worth the bulk and weight for it to be as strong and large as it is, because, as a desk, it works, and that's what's needed for me. When I'm working, I need space, and this is large enough to give me that space, and will take the weight of my laptop (and even a monitor), keyboard and mouse set up, easily, so I can even transfer my computer work up onto this, to avoid long sessions of dealing with emails, accounting, or whatever else I have to do online or on my computer. So, it is an ideal solution, for my work space, because I can use it as needed, without having to replace or entirely re-think all of my office furniture in order to add a standing work station. As a piece of "furniture" it is extremely well made, very attractive, and the deployment mechanism (the "air rise") works great, and of course also makes it easily adjustable in height.Just know that it is hefty and a bit awkward to lug around and that it does not sit "flat" even when all the way pushed down to its lowest position. It may mean, like me, you have to move it on and off, if you still want an existing desk surface that is not suddenly a lot higher with this sitting on it in its flat position.I will say, in moving it almost every day to set it up and then put it away later, it has not accidentally deployed on me. Once it is "flat" it stays that way even if you carry it on it's side, which is what I do, when moving it around. Just keep hands away from the deployment lever, of course, and be mindful in moving it, as with anything of this size and weight. Best case scenario, you have another person to help you move it and set it up, but it is doable as a one person task. All in all, I'm very happy with it, and I can now finally mix my positions when putting in mega-hours of work. This is a terrific solution, in my opinion, for anyone who does not want to, or can't, convert to a full sit/stand desk (which can be easily double or triple the price of this) or doesn't have room, like me, to add a dedicated standing work station in their existing space. For what it does, I think it's the best I've seen available.Hope this has helped -- thanks for reading!

Solid and Large!
This sit/stand converter is solid and large! I received this only yesterday, so i cannot talk about long term reliability yet, but my early impression is that this is a great choice for sit to stand. I have only a 10 pound monitor and a wireless keyboard & mouse on it, but the instruction sheet says it will support up to 35 pounds. Compressed it is less than 3 inches above the table top, and it extends to almost 16 inches high. At maximum height, this work surface is very stable. The only cons I have seen so far are that a significant amount of strength is needed to lift this the first few inches, before the compressed air cylinder takes full effect and reduces the lifting force needed. After pushing this down from extended to the base level, I also need to apply physical lifting force in the last few inches to keep this from dropping too quickly. Note that the instruction sheet should be read before moving this heavy converter.I used the pomodoro cycle (25 minutes then 5 minutes) at e.ggtimer.com/ to tell me when to stand and sit. That worked well for several cycles that I tried yesterday, but a word of caution is warranted. My badly out of shape body is accustomed to sitting all day in front of the computer. Last night and again this morning, my body was shouting that I did too much too soon! I plan to keep using this sit/stand desk, but I will do only a little each day until I can build up my endurance.

A jewel at a terrific price
As a 5'4" 127 lb. 70-year-old woman who sits at the computer 5-7 hours a day, I've been long aware that is unhealthy. With several chronic back problems, including my worst recent sciatica flare-up, it was a pain (sorry pun) sitting. I do lots of searching products, reading reviews, analyzing stock market, etc. I give those personal stats to help you in your review. I went with this stand-up partly based on reviews and partly on price. I made the right decision in every way. My husband was prepared to make the "spring modification" described by several reviewers but so far we have no need. The best aspect on this one is how low the surface sits on my oak desk, unlike most others sitting at 5-6 inches high when not raised. I can sit with my keyboard on the desk pull-out tray or quickly move it up on the stand-up's surface when raised. If I place my left leg a bit further under my desk before raising it, I have no back or strength issue, and it lowers easily and smoothly as well. I also love the the simple large but sleek rectangular surface without any tray for pencils or cutsie small dividers intruding on the space,. which allows me to have 2 standard size spiral notebooks, pen holder, mouse pad, still leftover space; it sits perfectly between 2 printers and monitor under the hutch when raised sonothing needs adjusting. I do have a small 19" PC monitor. In my opinion, the picture in the ad does not do it justice; it's more spacious, even if you had a larger monitor. Love it...nothing negative at all!

Great product !
Just arrived today, installed it (writing on top of it, standing now), has great wide range (even wider than my desktop, luckily the base of this thing is smaller than the top), and the top has enough space for monitor+keyboard+mouse (enough space for mouse to move around while playing), and even space for 2 speakers on the side of monitor (22"). Only suggestion I'd give before buying this is to make sure your cables are long enough, and the desktop this Standing desk it's mounted on, is stable, because now i see mine is moving a little since it's not 100% stable, but it's in safe parameters :)The whole thing is a little heavy when lifting it up (the whole thing) and mounting it, but the good part is that it's easy to make it rise and fall....not much force needed for that, since it has a good hydraulics helping with that.

High quality stand up desk, easy to setup for a good price!
High quality build, sturdy construction. Sleek, black and professional looking design. Perform your measurements for your existing desktop to ensure you have enough space for this because you will be placing this on top of any existing table or desk that you have. I put this on top of a simple Ikea desk like the larger "Linnmon/ADILS series. The Standing Desk Hub arrives pre-assembled, take it out of the box and place it on your existing desk, and simply adjust the height with the lever on one side of the desk hub.I end up having enough space for:15.6" MacBook Pro10.5" Ipad ProMouse

Superb piece of kit.
This is a smart and stylish piece of kit. Good weight and strength so i can sometimes lean on it. Manual assisted raise is easy and so smooth. Fits a huge monitor, phone, mouse, stationary and decorative items and keyboard with room to spare. Could get a second smaller monitor on as well. The solid base meant i could fit it on a curved desk under the eaves of the Design Loft i work in and still look great in the oak frame setting. Great service and delivery time, too. Thumbs up all round.

Good quality, sturdy product but be aware of the weight
This is a very sturdy product that is easily adjustable for height and would hold any reasonably sized piece of IT with ease. It's only drawback, and possibly what makes it so sturdy, is its weight. If your going to be moving this on a regular basis then take note of its weight because it is heavy and will be difficult to move for anyone with below average physical strength. You will realise this the moment it arrives and you attempt to unpack it. that said, for much of the population this is a quality product that my wife has now been using for a number of weeks and is very pleased with it.

great product, loads of room
This is very sturdy, And very heavy. I have two 25 inch monitors The laptop And the iPad resting on it right now. Lots of surface area And good-quality feel. The only downside is with two heavy monitors on the laptop,It is really heavy to lift up… Gas Strut needs to have more power. If there was just one monitor, I'm sure it will be fine. This hasn't stopped me though, and I love thisDesk… I stand more than half the time now. I prefer to have my keyboard Separate so I put it back on my desk in font By sticking Felt very pads underneath so it Slides back over my desk easily to give room for the keyboard...When standing up our use the laptop keyboardOn the stand up desk,And when sitting down I have my Microsoft ergonomic keyboardIn front of it.
