A must see movie.
No movie has ever been as synonymous with a college as Rudy is to Notre Dame.

One of those films my wife will always love and I have to admit, does hold up decently...
Let’s just get this out of the way: I am not now nor ever have been a fan of this movie or Sean Astin. It’s a personal thing and it has never changed. But my wife LOVES Notre Dame and this movie and she even likes Sean (or at least does not have my opinion of him) so she is over the moon for this movie. Therefore, I compromised and have it a 4 star review (which is big because I mean, I do not like it).But all that goes to show, movies, like anything, are subjective. One person’s opinion can greatly vary from another, so take it all with a grain of salt. I cannot explain my reaction to Mr. Astin - he is likely a lovely person, who I have never met, and maybe we’d get along great. But anything he is in I am just not a fan. But people are that way... but my wife... she LOVES this film.So there it is... the movie.Rudy is a classic football film, arguably as well known as the university’s football itself. I did some reading afterwards to see how much was “real” or not, and was surprised by the real life-to-ficiton changes, but not, because that is the purpose of Hollywood; to heighten reality. But the story is interesting...In this case, the young Rudy wants to play for his beloved Fighting Irish, heads off to college (next door), works himself hard, and finally gets that dream chance... of helping the team get ready. But for any fan, that kind of love and commitment is to be... commended? Sure. Fandom is a unique and wonderful world and if someone is made better or feels they are contributing to the cause for which they fight, then all the power to them. So off Rudy goes, helping the team, earning their respect, and in the end... well, you’ll have to watch. I will always give them, the game scenes are great. The friendships are solid. The mythical heroes journey is on full display. And while I am not a fan of Mr. Astin, but his efforts to breath life into this character have earned my respect. Perhaps much like the way the Notre Dame coach (is portrayed - read that story online), I may not like the guy, but in the end, I respect the heart he puts into it, and that earns my giving it a 4 star rating - my wife would give it 10 if she could. Fight on Irish!

Great Story of Amazing Perserverance and Determination
I loved this story of a young man who had a goal and let nothing stop him from pursuing and accomplishing it, with grit, determination and perserverence, against great obstacles. The reason I only gave 3 stars is the language included.

I really loved this movie
I watched this movie a few times as a kid and to be quite honest, I never really been inspired by it. I guess being a kid you have dreams but you just figure you'd have the time to accomplish them later. As an adult now, I really like this movie. It has a lot of value outside of the football theme story.I really like this movie. This movie is about a guy named Rudy who is set up for life. His father works in a steel factory and can set him up with a good, consistent job that will afford him a fairly good life. In the movie Rudy was set to be married, buy a house, and set to be married. However, Rudy had a dream to play football for Notre Dame but no one believes he could do it except his best friend. His friend ended up being killed in an accident and Rudy set out to achieve his dream leaving everything behind include his promising future but otherwise mundane life.I feel this movie has a lot of core value. If you remain motivated, but remain humble you can achieve pretty much anything you set your mind to.There are some parts of this movie that are simply untrue or had to be changed to illustrate a point. For example, Rudy's boss Fortune or his friend D-Bob are both multiple people condensed into one character. Personally I can see why as it would have less impact for the story if we had to watch many characters play into Rudy's life up to achieving his dreams. But the one thing I don't get why the movie makers did was made the Coach Devine a bad guy. In the movie Devine did not want Rudy to dress up for the game and did not want to put him in the play. That is not true. In real life, Rudy wanted to dress up for a real game just once and Coach Devine was fully on board with the idea even putting Rudy to play the final few seconds of the last game of his senior year. I'm not sure why they did it but I felt it was bit bad to paint the coach as the bad guy in the film.Overall just a minor dent in the story but overall I really liked the message the movie played out. Very nice and I highly recommend this movie for anyone. When I feel down or just generally worried, I sometimes would play this movie and it helps me feel better about situations.

Real feel-good film
This is my other half's favourite film - and now I've seen it I can see why.It's one of those real feel-good films that remind you that you can follow your dream - that anything is possible if you really set your mind to it.The fact it is based on real life makes it even more poignant.

Rudy
I first caught this film on late night TV, it's a truly inspirational story, every time I watch it I still get a lump in my throat at the end. Based on a true story, even if you don't like or understand American Football, you'll end up rooting for Rudy by the end of the film.

class film
A true story about rudy Ruettiger. A young kid who only ever wanted to play American football for Notre Dame, the college team his father has followed all his life. Rudy doesn't take no for an answer and will do anything to be a part of the team (Even cleaning their football helmets) his sheer will, determination and undying love for the team mean this young kid gets battered and bruised by the largest of players whilst practising with the team in the hope that just once, he might actually step out onto the turf wearing the famous Notre Dame colours. A must watch film on par with Remember the Titans. Hope to see it released over here on region 2 soon!!!

Rooting for Rudy...
bought it to replace an old VHS - still a great movie (of course it's based on a true story)...I loved this movie so much that several years ago I went to Notre Dame to see where Rudy had been...
