This base has no way to secure the four pieces together. In order to link the four pieces together we used 3' long cable ties (think zip ties on steroids) and looped them together via the handles. For the same price, I've found similar bases that come with clasps or hooks that secure the individual pieces together.

The base is expected to just sit on the crossbars without connectors apparently. A gust of wind allowed the umbrella to fall over as there was nothing connecting the base pieces. This is neglectful of the company to provide the holes for the anchor connectors but not the U pins to secure the base.

I bought this because it stated each piece will hold 55lbs (220 lbs total) of sand. This is not accurate. Each piece held less than 50 lbs. The metal pins do not work either, they are not wide enough once you have the weights set up on your stand. The opening to fill is not very large and you will need a funnel. I was in urgent need of a base and threw the box away so I’m stuck with it. Save your money and find a better product.

Make sure you have dry sand to fill these. The fill hole is small and you have to use a funnel to fill them.

Not as durable as described. One panel broke after filling when it dropped no more than 6 inches in a mulch bed. I was trying to fill in outdoor faucet and lost my grip and it broke in two places and will no longer hold water!! So dissatisfied and wish I would have bought a different type of weight for my umbrella.

Overall good and low profile. The only thing that I don’t understand is why it does not include a set of u-shaped metal rods that keep the units connected and to prevent them from slipping off the umbrella base. There are already 4 holes that can be used for this purpose but I guess no one’s thought about that somewhere along the way to the market.

Purchased to stabilize a cantilever umbrella, these were easy to fill and worked perfectly. They do take up quite a bit of space -- be sure to check the measurements before purchasing, in case that might be an issue for you -- but I have the space for them on my deck. The metal pieces that connect them make these extremely stable. Can be filled with either sand or water.

The worts product on the market. If I didn’t desperately need it I would send it back in a heartbeat. Horrible design. Horrible quality. Horrible in general. Do not waste your money.
