Archeology of Personalities: a linguistic approach to erotic rope bondage
L**G
It's a very different book on rope.
Let me say up front that you'll need to be a certain kind of reader to enjoy this one. This is basically armchair-philosophy for rope, but not the bad kind. The author's discussion is down to Earth, though, and you don't need to be a fan of some kind of school of philosophical thought to enjoy this, nor do you have to endure one that you don't. Mostly, the reading felt very much like reading good poetry or reading a prayer book. It was meditative and reminded me of why I love doing what I do, and what I need to keep my focus on when I do it.

Rich and Dense (in a good way)!
Hard to say anything bad about this, in fact, it's a little tricky to say anything about this at all!The content is rich and dense, elaborating on kinbaku with the flavor of an academic paper, but with some exellant subjective insights by the author. Some wonderful direct quotes by Osada Steve and the late Yukimura Haruki as well!I would particularly recommend this publication to those that have spend a considerable amount of time in this art already as the nuances may be above many readers heads.

Wow - masterfully direct treatise on power exchange
Although the topic is kinbaku (Japanese rope bondage), this short work gets to the real essence and technique of power exchange like nothing I’ve read. I would eagerly recommend this to those on both sides of the slash as something that will add to your experience of power exchange and BDSM regardless of your experience or what particular activities within BDSM you pursue.

This is by far the best book on the relationship between erotic rope bondage partners ever written..
All in 1 volume you get Information, Education and Affirmation, and these are not dependent on your place in the journey learning kinbaku. If you are in any way interested as to why some people seem to be swooning, flying and deep into their rope relationship while participating in erotic rope bondage, this book will give you the insight. A must read for any student wishing to take their erotic rope bondage to the next level.

Nice study
I was hoping more depth from this book, now it was just a surface scratch about personality of a average ropepeople.

Good, but can't wait for the next revision
Georg Barkas sets out to vocalise several of the deeper intricacies of erotic rope bondage and succeeds in posting a strong allegory that has been practiced and lauded by many in Barkas' new light. The book itself is rough, the language aloof, disjointed and full of sidetracks, much like the musings of an old person, trying to sort through memory, experience, thoughts and lessons in a jumble of paragraphs. It is however an unprecedented discussion on an esoteric topic, and I hope it will spark much more discourse on the topic.

I want my money and time back, alas
I challenge anyone to read this book and come away with anything coherent, much less interesting or useful. The editor should have stepped in and said no.

Short and interesting
A general overview about aspects in rope. A different angle, very interesting to read.

Excellent analogy
Although I never dived into linguistics I really like the analogy of an interview when thinking about or describing a rope scene. Sometimes in the book one get‘s a little bit lost due to the way the author is trying to pass over his thoughts, and one can notice the academic background. But he always ˋcomes backˋ to the reader. I would have rated 6 stars (of 5 ;-) ) if there would be some more thoughts from his Kinbaku senseis he learned from. But I don’t know if the thoughts which led him to this book have been already around when he studied this wunderful craft, so, 5 of 5 is fair and reasonable.

A start in understanding kinbaku
An amazing framework to explore what actually happens in kinbaku, and a beginning to understanding why people enjoy and benefit from rope bondage. Barkas's interview metaphor is unique and a bridge to western minds wanting to understand this Japanese dominated practice.
