Easy to use.
Best thing is that is easy to use this on teak. Looks great. We've used this finish for a year now- it last about one year so you have to reapply annually, but its ease of use makes this simple. You do have to wipe up spills on the boat quickly- if you let the stain dry it is somewhat difficult to remove.

What they don’t tell you in the instructions.
I’ve been using this product for a couple of years now, on deck furniture and our sailboat. Followed the directions for prepping, cleaning and finishing and was very happy with the results. The finish was just as promised. Then both furniture and sailboat were exposed to northern winter weather. It appears that when the teak got wet and then temperatures dropped to freezing, that lifted the finish off. That’s my theory anyway. Had to start from scratch in the spring. I used finish left over from the prior year and I noticed that as it was sitting in the cup I was using to apply that red crystals were forming that would not dissolve with any amount of mixing. Not the usual sediment, but crystals. The finish went on with blotches of orange. Not good. I emailed AllGuard but no response. So, great product if fresh, applied correctly and not allowed to freeze once applied.

Great Result--Easy Application
I have used Teak Guard on two of my sailboats, and I am incredibly impressed with the product. I did not use the cleaner, but I wish that I had. To prep the wood, I simply used sandpaper, and it is now my understanding that the end result would've been even better with the use of the teak cleaner. This product is simple to use. If you spill any on the boat tech, it is simple to clean up. It does not oxidize and turn dark like teak oil does. It lasts a full season, and all one has to do the next year is clean the surface and reapply the teak guard over the previous year's application.Simple. Fast. Effective. Attractive. One caveat, though: store any remaining product inside over Winter. Do not let it freeze; otherwise, it will ruin the teak guard, and you will have wasted whatever was left over from the year before.

Wonderful product
These teak gliders are over 30 years old. They have never been treated. I wish I had a before picture to show how this teak oil rejuvenated the gliders. They practically look new. They have been outside on porches for about 20 years total. We do bring them in in winter. Great product.

Does Not Last - Very Fragile
I was very hopeful about this product and gave it a chance twice on exterior teak on my boat.It doesn't last anywhere near as long as advertised.Yes, I was careful about following the instructions for prep and application, and talked with the maker twice to be sure I was doing it right. I put 9 coats on, but it still lasted less than 6 months, and it is easily damaged. When I contacted the company about the short life I never got a response. It's very easy to apply, but it doesn't stand up.VERY disappointed.Don't waste your time and money.I'm going to give Semco a try.

I hate having to strip other products off my teak after ...
I have been using this product for a few years and find that it works very well for me. I hate having to strip other products off my teak after a few years because they have started to peal. There is very little body to the Teak Guard finish so there is little buildup and I can just reapply more Teak Guard when needed. On the other hand, it is recommended to apply 4 coats to get a good finish. The product is thin and needs to be applied with a foam brush or it will drip.
