Very easy to install and works perfectly for my application
I bought this card to connect a Nikon negative scanner to my PC running Windows 10 Home, version 2004. The card was easy to plug into the PC motherboard and secure to the case. I used a known good Firewire cable that came with the scanner, so I can't comment on the short cable included with this card. Like some other recent reviewers, upon restarting the PC I checked Device Manager and noted that it had detected both the IEEE 1394 host controller and the Nikon scanner, so there was no need to install the legacy driver. Unsurprisingly, the scanner software had no problem finding and working with the scanner. In all, it couldn't have been a better experience.

DOES NOT WORK ON WINDOWS 10.
I'll give it 5 stars even though it did not work for me. I thought the issue with windows 10 was within the controller and thought of getting a card instead of the built in mobo firewire the issue would get resolved, but that was not the case. I gave it 5 stars because after reviewing the listing, it was my mistake because it states at the bottom it only supports up to windows8. I went off the reviews that indicate it worked with windows 10, but it does not. I tried all sorts of tricks i see online, but nothing worked. Going straight to the garbage.

Simple install works out of the box.
FireWire card was simple to install. Using it for an older FireWire audio interface. Windows 10 has built in drivers but I recommend downloading the legacy drivers. Overall it works as it should.

Works Great
Using this card I was able to connect my JVC miniDV video recorder to my computer. I was able to copy my old tapes to an MP4 file and preserve the memories on them. The card was easy to install and was automatically detected by Windows 11

If your looking to connect a audio interface, look somewhere else.
Ok, if your planning to use thks to connect a audio interface, its not going to work. It just doesn't have enough power to handle an audio interface. For reference i have a Avid M Box Pro. That being said.. if your planning on using it to transfer video files from a camera or video recoding device, it'll work just fine. It takes it time, but works. I tried it on a ryzen 7 built and on my ryzen 3 built but it ended up on levono thinkcentre since both of my ryzen cases came with a firewire input. So, if ur looking for something that would pair up with a audio interface your going to need a pci with the ability to connect a power source to it. :) 3 stars is fair i reckon. :/

Worked as expected and good price
I needed this connection so that I could transfer some digital video of my kids from my old miniDV camera and tapes over to my computer. The card and the cable came together. I paid my daughter to download a free app and copy the contents of probably 20 tapes to the hard drive. I probably saved a couple hundred dollars and my daughter liked watching the videos while they were downloading anyway. win/win/win.

Works as intended in Windows 10 despite negative reviews.
I was afraid of negative reviews mentioning blue screens in Windows 10, but this card is working as intended in Windows 10 (version 21H1) (x64) as of 11-6-2021.Motherboard: Whatever a Dell OptiPlex 7020 Mini Tower hasCPU: i5-4590 (4th gen)The drivers installed automatically.Video capture from a Sony camcorder is working perfectly.
