Don't love it, so far...
This is another 'In the style of Janet Evanovich', I believe, and unfortunately, if you've read the Stephanie Plum series, you'll be forever disappointed in any kind of copy that comes later. Janet Evanovich does Funny like no other. She just IS funny. She's subtle with it, and her timing is impeccable. It's annoying to read Trying Too Hard To Be Funny.I have to say that so far there have been some good, reasonably funny lines, but mostly I'm rolling my eyes, and frustrated by the storyline. It all feels too fabricated to fit - in order to create funny scenes. This one is pretty much the same as Miss Congeniality. I'm only a couple of chapters in, and not sure if I can be bothered to finish. If I do, and it gets better, I will definitely update my review.

Mistakes left in the past should not be revisited
I am not a big detective story or mystery reader, but the name Cajun Fried Felony spoke to me. When I ordered a sample and started reading it, I liked ut and eanted to order it. But I realized it was book 15! of a series. So I figured, better start with the first. As you see, I made it through 1 and 2 and enjoyed them immensely. The mix of murders, great food and the unpredictable failures of human nature in all its humor got me hooked. What I most love about this though is the multi-genetational aspect of it ,where elders still have a lot of bite to them while being completely credible, where also serious things get mentioned like commitments, friendship, coming home from service in war zones, disappointing children, a changing human and technological landscape and how we cope or not with it. And while there are male figures a pkenty, the main actors are great female role models. I am now on number 3 within a week and am not intending to stop.

Fun, Fast, Humorous Mystery Read
If you need or are ready for a light humorous mystery novel, this series may be for you. It is the second in the Miss Fortune mystery series. Fortune is a undercover agent for the CIA who now has a contract out on her by an arms dealer. Her bosses move her to a small town in Louisiana of 300 where she is suppose to be a librarian and ex-beauty pageant contestant. They tell her to keep a low profile. The undercover isn't going well at all. She has been there for several weeks and has been involved in solving several murders with two 70 plus year old women who were undercover during the Viet Nam War area. They are the bane of the local sheriff who tries to keep them out of the investigations. There are many hi-jinks that don't always go well but they are very good at lying to the sheriff. He knows it.It was a fun fast humorous relaxing read.

The Second in the Series is Funnier than the First!
My second book to read from Jana Deleon. She remains consistent with her knowledge of South Louisiana (I lived there for 8 years) and keeps her characters "in character". I think this book was even funnier than the first Miss Fortune Mystery, and am thinking that someone in Hollywood should start looking for a screenplay. What a great and funny movie this would make - a cast with strong women, southern manners and a great plot line loaded with humor. I can almost see Shirley Maclaine as Ida Bell.Ms. Deleon does a good job of bringing everyone up to speed as to what happened in the 1st book in the series. I suspect these books are just going to get better.p.s. The editing was also better than the first...a lot less grammatical errors!

Love this series
What can go wrong in Sinful Louisiana. Well everything when you are a CIA hired assassin living there undercover for the summer. When you have friends, of the older set, helping your out and when the chief of police that you are somehow involved with your new friends makes for a hilarious set of cozy mysteries.Oh I cannot forget to add about the alligator that Gertie is trying to recruit as a pet. Leads him around town at times on a leash when all he wants is food of the casserole variety.Plus besides all of this they do get into trouble and manage to solve a mystery or two along the way.

This series is a hoot!
I started this series with book 1 and am now on book 5. I think there are 9 in the series so far. I think it is a really fun read, although I think there are some historical inaccuracies. I can find no reference anywhere to women who served in Vietnam in the capacities that Ida Belle, Gertie, and Marge are supposed to have done. I also find it ironic (as a librarian myself) that the CIA assasin, Fortune, seems totally clueless about pop culture and being "girlie". I would expect a top notch assassin to be able to know about most any pop culture and to adapt herself to a role of femme fatale as needed. Other than those little criticisms, I find the storylines fun, the writing full of humor (I laugh out lout at times), an the Swamp Team 3 ladies are just a hoot! This is my kind of book - interesting, fun, and not at all heavy reading! I look forward to further adventures of Fortune, Gertie, and Ida Belle, but hope that Fortune can bring Amy and Carter on board with her "real" life sooner than later!

Loved! Loved! Loved!
Just finished LOUISIANA LONGSHOT yesterday, and it was so great, ordered LETHAL BAYOU BEAUTY and finished it tonight! (4 inches snow & ice on the ground in SC!) Cannot remember when I have laughed so much. These "little old ladies" are such characters, and if you grew up in a small Southern town, quite believable. I have recommended these books to my knitting friends and know they will enjoy them as much as I have. I am looking forward to reading the next Miss Fortune Mystery. Keep them coming!

Best book ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jana, never disappoints. Another excellent book written with a host of characters that you cannot wait to visit again and again. This time I did not see the ending coming, though at one point I wonder about past affairs and blackmail. But it seemed all in my head in trying to figure out the story. I felt like I was in Sinful with the ladies, felt the twist and turns as they happened, was cheering and laughing as these Ida Belle and Gertie past there prime bumbled along but with such accuracy got things done right in the end. I love this writer and how she weaves a story. Loved how the book ended on such a high, 4 AM and I am just smiling!

Lethal beauty
Loved it- second book in the series is as good as the first.Fortune finds herself accused of murder after the return of a cheating beauty queen ( the daughter of the Celia - the geriatric catholic sprinter she beat to Francine's Cafe for Sunday banana pudding) is found dead in her mother's kitchen. Her two sleuthing partners Ida and Gertie with some help from the recently "freed" Marie and her new friend Ally manage to annoy sheriff Carter while trying to keep Fortune from a life behind bars.Funny and clever a really good read.

I loved this second book in the miss fortune series !! The characters are great and the story is sure to have you hanging on to every word. This book has plenty of mystery, some action and plenty of laugh out loud moments that will have you struggling to put it down. I can’t wait to read the next book !!

Absolutely brilliant!!
Comical crime/mystery book, just what I needed. I’m not too taken with grisly, nasty crime novels (they touch too much on reality, so not much escapism for me) however this series is different. The characters are just fantastic, the story flows well, before you know it you want the next book!! After reading the first book I was hooked. Love the Miss Fortune series!! Great characters, which you’ll soon love.

This author could prove to be addictive
After reading book one I Bought book two 24 hours later I am debating should I buy book three. I love the quirky affordable but deadly characters and the action is nonstop. It comes with moments of hilarity and handedness that has me giggling and laughing so much at one point I was crying. Yeah going to get book 3 for to see if the romance moves up a notch

Good!
It is probably a silly story to most, but I have to say these characters keep me entertained. I can't wait for more. They're fun, lighthearted, and very entertaining.
