Great little pocket glass
I have purchased five of these pocket magnifying glasses. The first in 2015. I liked the first so much that I decided it was worth it to have a few of these around. They are durable. No problems with them at all. Very clear, without distortion. The lens is marked Made in Japan. Supposedly it is a glass less, but the manufacturer does not provide that information on their website. If it’s glass it is well worth the money, and based on how well they seem to hold up and the clarity they provide when viewing small print, I highly recommend this nice “edc”magnifying glass,

Top notch personal magnifier
I had been searching for good magnifiers for some time, when a renewed search pointed me to Donegan. I bought this and a lollipop-shaped magnifier from them, and am thoroughly pleased with both. This magnifier has a glass lens set in an acrylic frame, with a leather sheathe. It is a quality item through and through. The quality shows up in day to day use. The acrylic frame is grooved, making it easy to extract the glass. The 1.75" glass lens produces a clear image out to the edge of the frame when focused, and one that is reliably sharp. Good glass means the lens also focuses light well: like the best magnifiers of my youth, this puppy can burn with sunlight reliably and quickly. The magnification is correct for the specifications--often the cheap knock-offs are much lower magnification than advertised. The leather is thick and impenetrable, unlike the marginally protective faux leather used by some brands. The glass optic and sturdy leather cover make for a thicker product--about half an inch at the lens center. But that is a small price to pay for sharp, clear critter viewing. Plop one in your backpack, photo pack, or pocket on your next day outing, and you'll see what I mean. I can also recommend it as a gift item since it looks great.

Never Travel without it.
This is the second one I've purchased - this one For a gift. Not the highest quality magnifier but it does the trick. I carry mine in my purse. Very handy when out and about to check tiny price tags or restaurant menus.

A "10" for Under $10
DEFINITELY worth it...for under ten bucks. The lens itself is circular, and is enclosed by square PLASTIC frame. About the same size of large book of matches when closed.I guess the lens is glass (since the manufacturer says so)...however, because lens is melded in a clear square plastic frame, the lens seems like it may be high-quality plastic, too. The square plastic outer frame is imprinted with, "Made in Japan."Overall, the build and optical quality of this magnifier quite good, especially for 10 bucks.Would make a great little stocking stuffer or "Just-Because" gift for someone, too.ps...unfortunately, price has gone up $4 since I purchased it for under 10 bucks just 4 months ago! Now you might want to consider the Bausch & Lomb (812354) 4X Folded Pocket Magnifier, 36mm diam. lens for just a buck or two more. B&L has a stronger lens and a lighter and smaller case).

While a convenient pocket magnifier, the sized and magnification are not effective for many uses. I order another to replace it and found that was even worse. The actual view field of the magnifier needs to be provided in the ad.

Magnifies with Little if Any Distortion
This is an inexpensive pocket magnifier. It doesn't have a large field of view but comes in handy for low light situations or times when I don't have my reading glasses. Distortion is minimal. It's glass so it will stand up to being in a pocket.

This is the one I would buy again.
Feels like quality based on the weight. The case seems nice enough as well and does seem like real leather. Gave it to the wife to keep in her purse. Old eyes suck. Pretty pricey for what it is but this is the one I would buy again if I need another one compared to one or two others I have purchased. I bought this with my own money at the regular price. No discounts for a review or anything like that.

I work with antiques and fine art on a daily basis and I love this loupe. The real leather case keeps the lens clean and scratch-free. It will not replace a jewelry loupe, but it works great for everyday use. They are very durable, I've only broken one when I dropped it while it was open on a concrete floor. Occasionally, I have to order more because mine get stolen!
