Yamamotoyama Houjicha Tea, 2.20 Pound

Just a gentle reminder, this is a type of GREEN TEA, Smoked, but still Green Tea, so Brew Temperature is +175F. Yamamoto Yama has a wide range of Quality for their various Teas, and although this one is not ID'ed as such, IMHO, it's a Very Good Quality Version of their Offerings. For a Hojicha (Roasted Green Tea), it has the Flavor, Taste, Aroma, Color (darker brown), very few stems, and comes in a Nice Package with Sealed Top to keep Freshness. I just noticed it's gone on SALE at $26.95 for a Kilogram (+2.2lbs), a GREAT VALUE, so right now would be a Great Time to buy this. It's a Kilo (+2.2 pounds), which is quite a lot, so I am drinking at least 5 cups a day, and up to 15 cups a day, as Green Tea has a lot of Vitamins, Minerals, and Anti-oxidants for your Good Health. I rate this 5-STARS, and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED... !!! UPDATE: May 30, 2024 -- it's been just over 2 months now, and I am STILL enjoying this Yamamoto Yama HOUJICHA Tea. I make it in Large Quantities now, 64 fluid ounces (1/2 gallon) at a time, and then keep it in my Refrigerator, for enjoyment, anytime, day or night, as it's one of my Favorite GREEN TEA's... smokey taste, but that's what I like about this kind of Green Tea. This one is also Mild, and Easy on the Stomach, for me, so I can drink lots and lots of it, while watching my favorite video's, daytime, nights, or well into the wee hours of the morning. At 2.2 pounds (1 kilogram), there is plenty to enjoy, and I predict this will last me into next year, even at the large amounts of it that I brew and drink. Try it, and see, whether it's something you can get to like and enjoy too. :o)

I’ve really been enjoying this Yamamotoyama Houjicha. The roasted aroma is rich and comforting, and the flavor is smooth without any bitterness. You get a lot of tea in this bag, so it’s a great value if you drink houjicha often. It brews consistently well, hot or cold. Overall, a delicious, high-quality tea that’s become a daily favorite for me.

This is a great roasted green tea. Typical of what you commonly find in Japan. Beware, the bag is huge. I should have checked the weight beforehand, but you are definitely going to get your money’s worth.

I'm not an expert but this is the worst hojicha I've bought. Mostly stems which translates to little to no flavor. I love hojicha and bought this to last me a few months while I was out of the states. This really does feel like a by product of making quality hojicha. I'm sure the better yield is packaged and sold separately. What you get here is leftovers. Don't decide if you like hojicha or not based on this product.

One of my favorite Hojicha! This has a heavy roast but balanced so it doesn't taste burnt, is has natural sweetness and is smooth tasting.

This is the best bulk hojicha!! By the way, if you are looking for powdered hojicha, this is not the right one. This one has roasted mature tea leaves, stalks and stem. It gives very warm nutty, smoky, and soothing flavor (brown colored). Not to mention, it has "less caffeine" unlike other counterpart, matcha. In cold winter, you can have hot or warm hojicha (hoji tea) as a straight tea (I preder this), or hojicha latte by adding formed milk and some syrup (my son prefers this). Thanks to less caffeine content, you can drink this before bed generally speaking - this is kind of subjective: this would be up to individuals - I am an espresso loving coffee lover and drink a single espresso before bed. You can have this while you eat meals - warm cup of hojicha. If you like strong flavor, put more leaves on your tea pot. I like one or 1.5 coffee scoop for a pot, about 3-4 cups (pouring hot water, about 180F, not boiling, and steep for about two mins - the longer you steep, the bitter the flavor would be: same goes with water temp). You can do a second round w/o new batch - less flavor, but why not (I mean it is that good!!). To be warned, this is NOT powdered hojicha (oops, already mentioned before), and a huge package (that is the main reason why I purchase this package).

I've been drinking this tea for quite a while. This item is just as good as the pricier ones, but less expensive.
