The Mitford Bedside Companion: A Treasury of Favorite Mitford Moments

I recommend this lighthearted collection extracted from Jan Karon's Mitford Series to anyone who would enjoy the kind of book you can put down and pick back up when it calls your name again. A familiarity with the entire series is a helpful prerequisite, although not mandatory. Excerpts are chosen well by the author and her sister, and can provide perfect little short stories for nostalgic and humorous entertainment. As is always the case with Jan Karon, grace abounds among her own words of faith and endearing quotes from dead poets and other notable authors, even obscure and unknown writers...like SimplyMe! Here's a fine quote for you from her intro: "I am absolutely unshaken in my faith that God created us, loves us, and wants us not only to be good but to be happy" (~Archibald Rutledge). I will savor this cheerful companion in small bites as I would a decadent dessert.

This is a beautiful hard bound book with a collection of thoughts from the Mitford Series books -vignettes of certain events and characters, favorite Father Tim quotations, and even a cross word puzzle! I appreciate that since there was an error in printing the puzzle in the book, a corrected loose leaf puzzle sheet was inserted in the book...I would not have worked the puzzle in the book itself anyway, so that was a bonus. I am so happy with this book

If you want to feel that all is right with the world, reading a Jan Karon Mitford book is the way to do it. This is a compendium of the best of Jan Karon’s stories of the people of Mitford.

All the wonderful characters of Mitford, the funny jokes, and many of the memorable incidents in Jan's wonderful books are featured in this precious book. I love Jan's Mitford series and highly recommend reading them all.

My Mom is a Jan Karon fan, and I thought she had every book. I found this on Amazon, and was so pleased to surprise her for her birthday! She loved it!

I'm at the midpoint in the Mitford series. I love these books, and when I saw this book that contains some Mitford moments, reflections by author Jan Karon, and much more, I knew that I wanted to add it to my library.

A great addition to the series...a great collection of readings. As the title suggests it is great bedtime reading....enjoyable, enriching and relaxing

Anything Jan Karon writes is great, but I thought this book would have a little more new content than it has. The rearrangement of previous writing on my Kindle was not a good choice on my part. It would have been better if I bought the book in hard copy and set it next to my bed as suggested by the title!
