Early to late intermediate solos. A really beautifully arranged group of solos--9 to be exact. If you are intermediate and just over the line a bit, you will not have difficulty playing: All Through the Night, Amazing Grace, Faith of Our Fathers, For Beauty of the Earth, God Be With You Till We Meet Again, He Leadeth Me, Jesus Keep Me Near the Cross, My Faith Looks Up to Thee, Sun of My Soul.I find the arrangements to be very beautiful. I had bought this book last Spring and it was a bit over my head but, I have progressed to just passed intermediate and can play this book easily. The arrangements just touch your heart! They are a bit unusual but if you play them slowly and with expression, you will be delighted at the sounds. So beautiful! I am going to add a few more of Mr. Alexander's Sacred books to my piano collection. He is really a good choice in arrangers. Buy it and enjoy!

I'm early to intermediate advanced and this was relaxed playing from the get-go. Love Mr Alexander's arrangement style.

Very good arrangements of well known hymns.

The songs sound much more beautiful than their difficulty level because of Dennis Alexander's amazing arrangements. He delivers a book full of beautiful songs that can be played by a second-year piano student in church. Afterwards, even the church pianist will often ask "where did you learn that beautiful arrangement!?" and they want to buy the book too. These arrangements make excellent offertory music for the church pianist, and I have quite often used his Sun of My Soul arrangement at funerals: simple for a budding intermediate pianist to play, but not simplistic to the ear. I receive compliments every time I play from this book.

I've misplaced my copy of this book and am about to order a replacement. It is my most treasured among half a dozen or so of what I'd call "early intermediate" level books of hymn arrangements. Far and away, the first selection, Sun of My Soul, is my favorite, followed closely by God Be With You Till We Meet Again, which is almost "hauntingly" beautiful and moving. A masterpiece of comforting-sounding music that also provides the user with the uplifting lyrics of each tune, such as "may no earthborn cloud arise to hide Thee from Thy servant's eyes" - encouragement I sure need on an ongoing basis. I can't say enough about this book. I'm so glad it's still available new.
