PolarPro Snorkel Filter-Shallow Water Filter for GoPro Hero4 Standard 40M Housing

I tired this out while in Hawaii and it seems pretty well built. Not sure at the full retail price, but it stayed on tight for me while snorkeling in the surf.I would say that this is not needed when the sun is really bright and the water is really clear. But when the water is deep or cloudy blue, It will really help bring out the reds that can get lost underwater. It has a little string to attach to the camera if it falls off, or if you want to take it off but keep it hand... however, it can untied right away for me, so be sure to really tighten the knot. It also came with a little draw string bag to keep it from getting scratched.If you need a red filter, this will do fine, but I would say its not a necessity in most cases.

Easy to clip on and stays on very well, even in rough water entry. The way the filter clips on to the lens leaves a teeny space in between itself and the lens which when it hits a just right angle, allows light in and reflects off and creates this annoying ultra red hue to the shot. As long as the sun/light source doesn't get into it the wrong way, it works great and really gets those colors back into your underwater shots. Doesn't work well 10 feet or shallower...too much red hue.Overall I think it is a great product for the price point.

First, I didn't realize it when the product arrived but the packaging lists this product use from 12 to 75 feet not the 2 to 15 feet as listed on Amazon. They need to update the product description. If I would have know this I would have never purchased this product in the first place. I used this several time in Hawaii at 5 to 15 feet range and it washed out everything pink/red. Thankfully I took a lot of video with and without the lens so it wasn't a complete disaster.If you need something for deeper water it probably works great however for the depths listed on Amazon it was worthless. The only positive thing I can say about this filter is that attachment and removal is super easy and can be done with one hand under water. The attachment string can get in the way of the lens so I ended up shorten the length so there was just enough to get it on and off the housing.I would have returned this unit if I could however by the time I got back from Hawaii I was past the 30 day return window.

Filter made color balance of snorkel clips more balanced. If I took video without it, and aimed below there was a blue cast - while, if I used it, it looked more normal color balance. The only con I saw of using it, was when the gopro was aimed up too high near the surface, and sunlight was penetrating the water, there were rays of pinkish-white color showing. But if aimed down a little, it wasn't a problem.

Ordered this to take on a dive trip in August. Initially I had trouble identifying which filter I needed, but the staff at Polar Pro were helpful. The GoPro Hero 3 housing is the same as the dive housing. The filter stayed on well. I used the tether and the string got in my footage the first day. So if you use it, make sure you tuck away extra string. It stayed on the camera securely entering and exiting the water on six boat dives, and during our dives with a strong current. It was cool to see the reddish tint disappear as soon as camera was immersed, even on a shallow dive. Looking forward to using it again.

The description says it fits on a Hero 3/4 but this model did not fin on my 4! very disappointing as I received the product just before we went on vacation fo a week of snorkeling and didn't have the time to send it back. I managed to tape it on and it defiantly improve the color quality.

On my initial order there was a decent sized gouge right dead center of the filter. Shot off an email to Polar Pro and received a reply within a few hours. Jeff was extremely professional and asked for my address to send me a replacement without any second thought. I received a flawless lens just a few days later. Fit camera just fine. Definitely made pictures and video under water much better. Gave it 4 stars only because I think it is a bit pricey for what it is.
