Rapid Car/Auto Charger for The Amazon Kindle Latest Generation (Wi-Fi Free 3G 6in. 9.7in.)

Like others have said, but it bears repeating: There are two bags in the larger blue bag that the charger comes in and both are necessary to connect one's Kindle. One bag is very small and is very easy to overlook (which I did until reading the reviews here). My advice to Gomatic is to include a slip of paper to the effect that there are two pages - the charger comes with no instructions - but a simple schematic would have solved the problem.

The interchangeable tips for power connectors devices connect to the car plug using a audio style plug/jack. The audio style jack/plug is similar to an 1/8" audio adapter but with four contact surfaces unlike the usual two for mono or three for stereo. I don't think it would be a wise idea to slowly connect this type of plug while the cord is powered or you might short your electronic device. Another concern is when disconnecting, or accidentally disconnecting when you try to move to far for the cords length!Think this is why when we have adapters & plugs for power cords with contacts completely separated from one another avoiding any possible contact or short.Anyhow, I just don't trust these kinds of plugs for power with sensitive $400 low voltage devices.Found my local store had a Belkin "MicroCharge + ChargeSync Kit" MODEL F8Z493tt03-P 1 AMP 5 VOLT car power accessory. Just did a search and beware, Belkin sells several other car USB devices stating 2 AMP, but the newer boxes for the previously specified item does show a "1 AMP" rating on the front of the box. The Belkin adapters look much more solid with no fancy mix matching of adapters.

Gomadic sent me a car charger made for something else instead of the Kindle 3g/wi-fi.The charger I received from them has a female end instead of the custom male plug in for the Kindle.GaryI tried to delete the above post using Amazon's instructions but was unable to find the correct link to do this.After Texting with a Gomadic Rep I found an attachment to the charger that I had misplaced that was sent with the charger. With this attachment the charger does fit my Kindle.I apologize to Gomadic. Problem is solved.Gary

I have used it when camping. I tent camp where there is no electric. The charger lets me use my truck to rechargethe kindle so I can get my morning USA Today. Good product.Deaf Guy

My husband wondered why I would need a car charger for my Kindle when it has a long battery life and at first I contemplated the same thing. However, I also use my Kindle for audio books that I listen to in the car and it came in handy when I used it on a long road trip. So, for me it was a handy accessory for a low price.

The light on my kindle doesn't always turn green even after being charged for several hours, I was sent a new white charger for home use and the problem has not been solved. I think it's the kindle battery.

I enjoy listening to stories on my Kindle when we travel in our car. The chargers works great, and I don't need to be concerned about plugging the Kindle into an electrical outlet during our travel nights.

Love it. I often forget to charge my kindle and this works great. Both my husband and I have kindles so it comes in handy on our trip to and from Florida. We take our kindles everywhere.
