Neutrogena T/Gel Therapeutic Shampoo, Extra Strength, 6 Ounce

I tried every cream, shampoo, foam, and oil that my dermatologist prescribed for me over the last 15 years. Nothing worked - mainly because, for a number of reasons, I didn't/couldn't follow through with the number of treatments per day that each required (Walking around with oil on my scalp and a shower cap on my head for at least 4 hours a day once a week just didn't fit into my life style!) My dermatologist sort of steered me away from coal tar shampoo because it 'smelled so bad'. Through the years I tried all sorts of different shampoos and combinations of over-the-counter treatments, all the while scratching the heck out of my scalp. I was leaving clumps of white flakes wherever I went. I was unable to keep from scratching my scalp - even in public - and my psoriasis was spreading to new areas of my scalp. In researching solutions for this problem, I found wonderful reviews for T/Gel Therapeutic Shampoo. I was skeptical that an over-the-counter product would work for me, but I bought it anyhow. I used it every other day for the first 2 weeks - apply, lather, rinse, reapply and let sit - and I am SO AMAZED by the results! I have been using it for 2 months and I have NO symptoms of psoriasis! No flaking, no itching! At first, I didn't like the smell, but now I think of it as the 'odor of psoriasis relief', and I believe that it smells better than whatever coal tar shampoo the doctor would have prescribed. I have short hair, so the smell does not stay with me as it would for longer hair.

At this time (three years ago), I was swimming regularly and the itching was horrifically exacerbated by the chlorine exposure. At my wits end with waist length hair pulling on this area of my scalp, I asked my PA in a routine check-up for a product. She specifically recommended the extra strength version of this shampoo. I simply incorporated the T-Gel into my daily hair washing routine in place of my regular shampoo and patiently endured the tar smell for 2 bottles worth of the product. I only rubbed the shampoo vigorously in the affected area of my scalp and used regular shampoo for the rest of my hair and scalp. I will note that the smell was mildly unpleasant, but tolerable. I estimate this took me around 2 months.The itching and flakes gradually improved until one day, I realized that I had a completely healthy scalp. I am able to use regular shampoo and conditioner now and have not used this product for three years now. If you are patient, I have every faith that this will be the product that “finally works!!!” The best part about this product is that I no longer have to use it!

Can't lie, this stuff smells like tar. BUT, it's not an overpowering smell. If you put other products in your hair that smell, it'll cover it. Back in the early 90's I had dandruff. The others didn't work. This did. I'm trying to be a vegan & buy cruelty free stuff. So when I got dandruff again, I REALLY didn't want to buy this. But nothing else worked. I broke down and got it. Of course you know, dandruff is gone. I didn't give it an all 5 star due to why I don't care for the brand and the smell. This is why I can't fully commit to being a vegan. Lol I have bad allergies, so any bad smells or strong smelling stuff sets me off. As bad as it smells, I never feel like dying due to allergies. It's gentle on the scalp. So I'd try it out before the others. It's really a good price on here and it's a sure thing.

I suffered from seborrhoeic dermatitis for 6 YEARS!!. I used every product you can imagine (natural and prescribed) to fight the symptoms and nothing seemed to work until I used this shampoo. After 3 weeks of use I saw that the condition improved 100%. Now I use it every other day as part of my daily routine.This product was really made for what it said. I couldn’t care less about the smell, because it really worked for me.Trust me, if you are suffering like I did, tried this shampoo, follow the instructions, be patient and have faith.UPDATE (1.5 year later): I recently bought a bottle for a relative who was suffering from a sever dandruff due stressful situations, IT WORKED FOR HIM TOO. I sent it to him overseas and even the shipping costs where well worth because this product really works.I am so thankful I ran into this product.

My doctor recommended this shampoo for an itchy patch on my hairline. After using it once, the itch subsided. I've been using it once a week and the red patch is almost all cleared up. Smells good, too.
