Yes, it flips over and drops down when unlocked. You lift up and swing over to catch the lock in place to lick the door.

Q: Could this be mounted on a sliding screen door with a 3m strip? I rent so cant mount into wall

This lock will not work on sliding screen doors, only because the latch and hinge forms a 90 degree angle when locked. It will be impossible for you to close your glass door once this device is installed. There are universal vertical locks made especially for screen doors. They are listed with Amazon as ‘sliding screen door strikes. Your latch should slide up or down on this narrow piece of metal that can be secured inside your tracks with 3M command strips. Hope this help in your decision making.

I see no reason why not. Advice is to predrill the wholes on the frame and door. I installed mine on standard indoor pressed wood and a hollow door with wood framing.
