There is no other choice
The best dive watch under $500. Period. The red dial is stunning , especially in sunlight. The build quality is terrific and the size is ideal for a wide range of wrist sizes. Orient punches way above it's weight with all their models.

Great watch, great value
This is the best value I could find. Automatic, Sapphire crystal, with a beautiful dial. I like the 5 ticks per second with the second hand. I like watches without numbers, long wide hands, and around 42mm wide so the style is exactly what I was looking for. The band is titanian so which is nice because the mechanism is a bit heavier than I'm used to so the light weight titanian helps so the whole thing isn't too heavy. When I drive in my truck I could hear the band rattle around a little which is annoying. The band also has several micro adjustment options which is really nice to have. The casing is polished but it doesn't seem like the high polish that some of my cheaper watches have had. I would prefer a brushed finish but that would cost more $$$. The lum is really good. The box came kind of hammered looking which deflates the experience of opening a new watch. The dial didn't have a clear protective sticker to remove so I wonder if I got a returned watch. 2 or 3 stars for Amazon, 5 stars for the watch!

Couldn't be happier
My second Orient watch among countless other autos. Like everyone says, this watch punches way above its weight. It has everything I wanted in an automatic work watch. Yes the bracelet could be better, same with the bezel action, but all that is eclipsed by the comfort of the watch and beauty of the dial, hands, and especially the amazing lumes. The power reserve isn't lauded, but after a day of work it lasts longer than some of my autos that claim almost twice the reserve. I bought a second one in case someone I know expresses an appreciation for it and I'll give it as a gift. Amazing watch, especially for the price! I have the red dial and it's stunning but not too flashy.

Gorgeous watch
I did a lot of research and bought this for my little brother as a graduation gift. First of all it looks fantastic, the red dial is fire in person. It’s got a great weight and was the best watch by far in the price range. The sapphire crystal and in house movement put this watch at the top of my list. Not a cheap quartz fashion watch! This is a great automatic watch that I told my brother will last decades if he takes care of it properly.

For the money, it’s a bargain. Some fit and finish lacking.
Others have pointed out that there are many reviews rating this a top buy for the money and I’d have to concur. The red (almost ruby really) dial is stunning in natural light. The bracelet isn’t the best but it’s adequate for the job. It uses simple pins so its easy to resize yourself even if all you have is a paperclip. And you can always buy secondary straps/bracelets if you don’t like it and that would still keep this timepiece in the great value for money category. But as some have noted, the bezel isn’t really “perfectly aligned” at the 12 and 6 markers. Basically, if the 12 arrow mark is sitting right over dead top noon/midnight, the bottom 30 indicator will be slightly off from dead bottom 6. And vice versa. I don’t think it’s a bezel alignment issue (it may be, can’t really tell) but more likely a haphazard choice of fonts for the numeral markets that creates this. I’ve seen one on someone else at the airport and walked up to compare and his had the same issue. So it’s possible they are -all- like this, or a huge batch at least, and it’s just not that much of a noticeable issue to anyone other than a perfectionist. Which, for the price, I am not. As a nice looking highly water resistant diver, I’ll accept the flaw but I do hope Orient addresses it if it’s a design issue and not that the bezel was just mounted improperly. Honestly, I can’t see how it’s a bezel mount issue at all as no matter how I view it I can’t get the top and bottom to line up perfectly. I’d still buy it again….but I’d caution perfectionists from doing so.

Orient Kamasu - The Spec Beast from the East
If you're looking at this watch, there's a good chance that you've been seeing all these positive reviews on the Kamasu. I don't blame you for wanting to see it for yourself. This watch is what I consider to be THE watch that every watch enthusiast should own. Even if you're not into watches and you happen to see this watch and this review, there's a good chance that you'll end up buying this when all is said and done. I got the red dial variant of the Kamasu. The first thing I noticed when unboxing was how rich the red dial was. Red dials are not very common and this red dial is what I consider to be perfect. The dial has a sunburst to it that comes alive in the light and gives off rich hues of red. The 120-click unidirectional bezel rotates counterclockwise and on mine, was a bit stiff at first but eventually broke in and gives a satisfying click with the stiffness substantially subsided yet will not turn by mistake. The bezel features an aluminum bezel insert and having the dive bezel makes perfect sense as this watch has a 200m water resistance rating. It's not ISO 6425 rated, but you can certainly get away with the occasional rain shower or spilled drink. Powering this bad boy is Orient's in-house F6922 movement with 21,600 beats per hour/3Hz with the accuracy range being -15 to +25 seconds per day while mine is +5 seconds a day. Your mileage may vary. It features a day/date complication with an English/Spanish day wheel. One thing to be aware of is to avoid setting the day/date between the hours of 9pm-3am so as to not damage the movement. Power reserve is 40 hours before you need to wind it and set it up again. Sitting on top of the dial is a flat sapphire crystal with no anti-reflective coating on it. The inclusion of sapphire makes this watch a great value for the money you pay for. Despite the lack of AR coating on the crystal, this watch is very easy to read at a glance. My only gripe is the bracelet. While perfectly serviceable, it comes with hollow end links and rattles/squeaks slightly when wearing it. This wasn't a problem for very long as I swapped it out for a Strapcode Super-J bracelet, but apart from that, the default bracelet features solid links and a foldover clasp with a flip lock and four positions of microadjustment for that perfect fit. This watch is a spec monster. It has all the goodies that you would want in a watch and will perfectly serve as your next tool watch. I love this watch so much, I also purchased the green dial variant. No matter your color choice or what watches you like to gather, this Orient Kamasu has a spot in everybody's collection, whether you know it or not. The Spec Beast From the East. Japan's hot value diver. This is probably the only tool watch you will ever need.

Great looking watch with plenty of lume. The red on this watch dial is another level, absolutely stunning. The watch has great accuracy too, variation of 3 seconds in a 24 hour period. Your mileage may differ. Wears smaller than a 42mm.

Best red Watch at this price point. The sunburst effect is amazing and doesn’t shout too much red. Highly recommend if you got more than 1 watch
