Better Than Expected - A Great Value
Bought this from Amazon as a little test camera before buying a better model, but was pleased enough with the quality and function to actually use it for real.I have this attached to an Axis M7001 Video Encoder to convert the analog signal from the camera into a digital version capable of being viewed over our LAN. The signal from the camera is strong, the picture clear and the quality very good. This was originally just going to be used to develop a sample of the system (encoder + web + camera) but it is now watching the front of my house full time. It is hanging outside under the eaves, unprotected, in winter weather. Over the last week it has dropped under 20 degrees with snow and a great deal of wind (the camera does not get rain or snow on it under the eaves). No problems. The Axis encoder (inside the house, of course) reports when a signal is lost and so far it has stayed up even in the bad weather.Light sensitivity is high and it switches to B/W mode about as well as any other model I have seen. It will deliver a picture when your eyes will not, but it is not a "night vision" device. Some ambient light is required (you should put up an IR light if you want to see in the dark).A few notes about the camera if you choose to buy it:- There is no power supply provided: this is normal with security cameras. You may have a 12 v. dc power adapter laying around that does 500 mA or more, but if not you can run down to the local Radio Shack and pick one up easily (or get one on Amazon). The adapter size is standard for security cams. If your adapter plug does not match...again - run down to Radio Shack and get one. Or better yet save the hassle and just get the one Amazon tells you to get.- There are no adjustments on this camera. None. The field of view you buy is what you get.- The video connector is a standard BNC type. This means it is not compatible with your home coax wire (screw-on terminal) unless you get a BNC/Coax adapter.- If you want to plug this directly into your TV, DVR or VCR: Look for some BNC/Coax and BNC-RCA adapters (search on Amazon, they are easy to find). Use the BNC/coax adapter on the camera to attach the camera to standard coax cable, then use a coax/RCA adapter on the other end to plug it into your TV on one of your alternate video inputs (don't use one with a channel tuner as this camera does not use 'channels'). Done.- To hook it into your computer (see over the web): you will need a video encoder to do this. These are invariably more expensive than the camera itself. The Axis brand products are pretty much the industry standard but you are looking at something in the $250-$270 per camera depending on which of their encoders you use. But they work great. There are a dozen other options you can figure out...but the stand-alone encoders work and do not require another computer - the web server is built it.We'll be adding more cameras soon and I will probably get more of this model. They offer great capability for the low price.

Nice and discreet camera
Bought this bullet cam to monitor my front driveway and wanted something more discreet than the dome type cams I use in other areas. I managed to install this up in the eves under the gutter and I even spray painted it to match the house. Unless you were looking for it or knew it was there no one would see it. I was surprised by the wide angle field of view and even though this does not have IR night vision the low light performance is pretty good. My driveway is lit by a single 60w bulb and I have no problems seeing out to the end. I like the performance of this so much I might get a few more for other outdoor areas. The dome type cams with IR leds are nice but the erie red glow they emit draws attention to them.

Nice hidden camera for the price
I purchased this and was surprised at how good the picture quality is.First off the unit I received had both plugs black, in the picture here it shows one is yellow. On my system this camera is capable of showing video to very close range, at 6 inches away it gives a great picture on in-close items. Someone said two feet is the minimum but not with the unit I got.The picture is also crystal clear, if anyone has a grainy picture it is probably the cable they used or the other parts of their security system. it also adjusts for the lighting, so brightens in dark areas and darkens in lighter areas to give the same good picture quality. This camera is probably best for an area that goes out to 30 feet or so and in closer, I would not expect to use it for across a street or longer distances. The only negative on this unit is really the way the camera has a swivel base that makes the exiting chord hit the base. In the picture of the camera you can see the exiting chord goes over the top of the base but that gives an upside down imagine on my system so you have to flip it over.

Camera does what it claims, but is not white in color
This camera is what it claims to be, however, the image is not accurate. You will receive a black camera, not a white one. Further, please note that the lux rating of this camera means that it REQUIRES a great deal of light to see anything at all. You cannot use this camera in low-light conditions, even ones often found in your typical home. If you want to use this camera in any condition except full sunlight, you will need an external light source. Good news, however, is that this camera IS sensitive to infrared and therefore an external infrared light source, (visible 800nm or non-visible 900nm), will suffice to add extra lighting needed. For the price, this camera is great. If you are looking for something that can handle lighting conditions other than bright daylight, direct sun, you will need to look elsewhere.

A lot of noise in the image at night
This camera has decent image quality during day light. However at low light and even when added IR illuminates are added the camera image has so much noise through out the image it triggers the motion sensors on the DVR every few seconds.I do not recommend this camera in low light conditions at all.

awesome camera
i cannot say enough about the price and quality of this camera. i've had it set up for about 2 months with no problems. picture quality is what you'd expect in this price range. the wide angle view is well worth it and a great feature. it works well at night with my extra bright porch light. the lack of infrared lights in the lens and slick/slim shape allows it to blend in very easy with the surroundings. i would definitely buy another one when i have the need.i am using it with a defender dvr system, it works exellent.
