Cartoon cuties
Growing up in the late 50's and early sixties a lot of times the only erotic material we could find were the erotic cartoons. 12 year old boys on the verge of womanhood (just me lol) can get excited by almost anything. This book reminded me very well of that time. In those days the art was appreciated more than the humor. Today they are on equal footing, but these are some of the hottest women and the best jokes out there! A tent in my panties and a belly laugh. Who could want more on a cold night!

A good resource.
I thought the book was interesting. Tracing explicit comic art from the 17th Century (England, Japan) to the explosion of erotic comics in the 1960s in France, America, and Mexico to name a few.It was especially interesting to learn about the first successful female authors and artists in the industry. Most notably, Joyce Farmer and Lyn Chevely who conceived and produced “Tits & Clits”, a series of comics that delt with previously taboo subjects like pregnancy. They were arrested and threatened with jail, $400,000 in fines, loss of their homes and their children - this was in 1972! Eventually the issue was dropped and they went on to make more erotic comics. Many artist and authors left the mainstream comic industry for the more lucrative erotic side of the business. There might be better books on the history of blue comics but this was my first look at the industry so I think the book is informative. The references are plentiful and linked to the net. The illustrations can be enlarged for better viewing.

Very Interesting Background
Interesting to see the history of this genre of comics as a historic presentation. Not all about just images, but the story behind the images. Always nice to put this stuff into context, especially when you get this and Volume 2 together.

History with a twist
I loved the book. It was a real page turner. Different, but a good different. I now know more than I did before.

Sold as a Kindle Book but Won't Download to My Kindle
I am giving this a 1 star because while I bought it for a Kindle it won't download onto my Kindle. I still don't understand why. I have no idea if the book is any good or not because I can't read it.

Comics History
I grew up with The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers, Fat Freddie's Cat, and the whole R. Crumb gang. This brought back many fond memories, as well as educated me on how all that came to be.A job well done.

Erotic Comics
This well illustrated and nicely designed book traces the history of erotic comics from the early days before comics had been invented to the 1970's. There are many surprises and interesting snippets along the way. The book does not confine itself to just the US and UK, revealing the universal and timeless nature of eroticism - our ancestors and neighbours were just as naughty. Many famous and talented artists have produced erotic works and they are well represented and displayed here, examples include Wally Wood, Crumb, Will Elder and Trina Robbins. There is a huge range of material here - you would need a very extensive collection to have seen it all.Definitely recommended.
