DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT
I did a LOT of research before purchasing this product and NOWHERE did it state that the product was sold WITHOUT everything you need to make it functional. This is a printer ONLY with NO POWER CORD, NO BATTERY, NO INSTRUCTIONS and the dealer charges 15% for you to return it.IF YOU ARE AT ALL INTERESTED IN THIS PRINTER DOUBLE CHECK THE PRODUCT NUMBERS AND MAKE SURE YOU ORDER THE ONE WITH THE -K AT THE END OF THE MODEL NUMBER.I'm stuck with a $450 paperweight!

Good device for the purpose
Good device for the purpose. I do not go to the DOB in NYC without it. By whatever reason, this city governmental office stopped providing printing and copying services to the public. Brother printer is a very good solution to annoying problem.

A little tricky to set up, but the PocketJet PJ-673 printer does print from iOS devices
The PocketJet series of thermal printers from Brother are very useful, well-made devices for road warriors who need an ultra-compact, high-quality printer. A penalty is that these are thermal printers, only take one sheet at a time, and require that you carry special paper with you, but thermal printers can be much smaller than even the most portable inkjets and of course they don't consume a fortune in ink cartridges. The paper for these printers is high quality and will not fade for many months, even years. The printers are fast, so it doesn't take long to print a dozen pages. I find that a 100-sheet pack of thermal letter size paper fits conveniently in my computer bag along with my laptop. The model PJ-663 can attach to computers via USB cable, but also has BT built-in which will work well with a BT capable Windows laptop. For some unknown reason, Brother has never seen fit to provide a BT connection for Macs, so I have had to use the provided USB cable to print from my MacBook Air. The PJ-673 will print via USB from a Windows PC, but will also connect to iOS devices (iPhones and iPads) via a built-in direct WiFi connection. Setting it up to work in iOS is a bit tricky and I suspect that reviews which complain they cannot get the PJ-673 to work with their iPhones or iPads have simply not figured out the setup. So remember:If you mainly need to to print from a BT-equipped PC, then the PJ-663 is best for you. It will not work with iOS devices, but will work with Macs via USB cable. If you want to print from iOS devices (like maybe a beautiful new iPad Pro when they become available), then you need the PJ-673, but remember that OS support is limited to WIndows so this is not designed for use in OSX.This crazy situation is why I only give these printers 4 starsHere is how to get the PJ-673 to work with iOS devices:Before you begin the connection process, you need some additional apps. Brother provides a free app called PJ-673 Print available from the Apple app store. It will print PDF files, image files and do something called PRN File Transfers. I mainly use the PDF file print function. If I have a..doc or .docx or other non-pdf file to print, I convert the document to pdf using a pdf converter app (my favorite is PDF Converter by Readdle Inc) and then print to the PJ-673 Print app by using the "Open to" function in iOS from within PDF converter. For example, suppose I have a Word Email attachment. I open it within the Mail app, transfer it to PDF Converter using the "Open to" function, then use the "Open to" function again within the PDF converter to transfer what is now a pdf document to the PJ-673 Print app. Then it is simple to print the document from within the PJ--673 Print app.You can also use Print Central Pro instead of the PJ-673 Print app but its a bit more complicated.Note that the IP address of the printer will not be the same as the DHCP IP Address in the iOS settings -- that's ok. But the IP address for the device showing in the PJ-673 Print app should be the same as the IP address of the printer (if you need to check the IP address of the printer, see the manual to learn how to use the paper feed button to print out the internal printer settings. To set up the PJ-673 for use with iOS then we need to do the following:1. Be sure the printer battery is fully charged or have the printer attached to the AC power supply. Turn the unit on by holding down the power button for a few seconds. The power light should then be glowing a steady green if on AC power or yellow/orange if on a full battery.2. Push the power switch again for several seconds. This should activate the blue wireless LAN signal light, which will blink indicating it remains unconnected to a device.3. Go into the settings app in iOS and turn on WiFi. Available networks will appear, but below those is a section called Devices and the printer will appear as PJ-673-XXXX where XXXX is usually the last 4 numbers in the printer serial number (serial umber is located on the bottom of the printer) You will likely next be asked if you want to "join" the device, despite a warning that this is not an internet connection (you are setting up a direct device-to-device WiFi connection). Go ahead and join.4. If this is the first time you are connecting, you will be asked for a password. Enter the LAST 5 DIGITS of your printer serial number. This is important -- . YOU MUST ENTER THE LAST 5 DIGITS of the serial number, not just the last 4 digits showing in the printer name in iOS. If you find that you get an unstable connection, go back into the settings page, select the little "i" in a circle to the right of the printer name, elect to "Forget This Network" and start over with step 3. The most common reason for failure to establish a reliable connection is entry of the wrong password..5. If you have correctly entered the required password, the Wireless LAN light will change to a steady blue and stay that way. You are now ready to go through the process of printing a document as I described above using either the PJ-673 Print app or PrintCentralPro.Please note also that it sometimes takes a few moments after you select PRINT for one of the Print apps to correctly find and link though the local WiFi with the printer, especially when you first do a print job.I know it sounds complicated, but once you get the hang of it, it becomes routine.

pocketjet PJ-673 (iOS compatible) (need printcental app)
I have the brother pocketjet pj-673 thats compatible with iphones and ipads. Although I did not purchase the printer from amazon, I really wanted to review this product. I love it! I originally researched the brother pocketjet and the printstik online. Amazon is where I usually go to get costumers opinion on products. I was really fed up with buying expensive ink for my epson printer (that is now just sitting collecting dust), the ink cost more then the printer itself. I have everything apple; iphone 6, ipad. So I wanted the brother 673, since it was compatible with iOS. The reviews on amazon deferred me from purchasing it, because several stated it is no compatible with iOS. But since I only really use my iphone or ipad to print anything, I decide to give it a try. Im glad I did, because it prints great. But to get the full benefit of the mobile printing (wirelessly through iphone) you HAVE to purchase and download PRINTCENTAL ($5) in the app store, then your good to go. I buy my 8 x 11 thermal paper at B&H photos online for $10 (100 sheets). Hope this helps!

Worst thermal printer on the market
Brother advertises it is compatible w the ipad operating system. It isn't! My company is now stuck with 10 printers ( PJ 673 ) that we cannot use. $5000.00 invested and brother will not credit or return the units. They still advertise that it is compatible with Ipads.
