'Brown Rice' was initially released in 1975 and features African, Indian, Arabic and '70s-era Miles Davis style electric rock fusions. The album features contributions from former Ornette Coleman bandmates Charlie Haden and Billy Higgins.

Great Stuff.
Having heard his work as a sideman with Ornette Coleman and being impressed it was with his move to a more ethnic sound that Don really floated my boat. The tune Malkauns on this album really does take me to another place. This album also lead me on to Orient, Mu parts 1 and 2, and Organic Music Society the journey still continues. But Brown Rice is for me his standout and therefore highly recommended.

Incredible record fusing jazz with lots of other worldly music to come up with something that is utterly unique & hypnotic.Recommended.
