Great phone, but it only works with the matching base phone.
*Note This phone will only work if you have the matching base phone. This phone is perfect. I needed it for my 93 year old, legally blind mother. She can hear this ring and easily choose which button to call. We have tried several of the other picture, one button dial phones in the past, but the never work for long. This phone is high quality and works well!

Elderly Parent and Safety
This phone rings louds. Since mom is hard of hearing and has dementia we needed to get her something that she should hear n see the flashing red light that also screened out those annoying scammers. I was able to program the phone to where only 8 people are on her allowed call list and the scammer calls are blocked. The allowed list feature is really cool because it announces who is calling so mom knows that ie "Maryann" is calling. The phone programming did take some understanding to get to the allowed list but once I git it figured out - LOVE IT!

Great phone with a few issues
A great phone so far but with a few changes would be even better. Easy to set up but takes a while to program numbers into Phonebook and Photo buttons. Does ring loud enough.1. Need the ability to disable the ‘Block call’ button on phone and hand set. I thought this would be a great phone for my elderly parents with dementia but the first call I made to them, my Mom accidentally blocked my number by hitting the block call button. No instructions on how to unblock phone numbers but I did figure out a way around by changing the unblocked phone number in Blocked calls. I really like the Smart Block feature which only allows calls through from numbers in her ‘Phonebook’. Mom was getting each day so many Medicare, Warranty, and other scam calls.2. Not a show-stopper but the ability to record names in your own voice within the Phonebook would be great. The automated pronunciation of the typed name doesn’t exactly pronounce who’s calling clear enough. Do love the feature of announcing the caller.3. I programmed the phone to ring 6 times before going to the answering machine but still only rings 4 times. I may just end of turning off the answering machine since not sure if my parents can figure out how to reviewing the messages anyways.4. Photo buttons need to be larger. My parents do not make calls except via the photo buttons and have a little trouble seeing the faces. I had to make a list for them of who each photo button was. They really do not dial phone numbers any longer.

Phone
I purchased the phone for my elderly mother who has hearing problem. Reading the description of the phone and was not satisfied with the features.1. The ring tone supposed to be loud to hear. However, it sounded just like an However, the loudness of the ringtone was just a regular sound. It was not amplify at all.2. There is static on the phone when she is talking. I tried with another phone that I had and there was no static.3. The volume to adjust the hearing is standard volume and nothing that is amplify for someone who doesn’t hear that well.3. The voice of the person she was having a conversation over the phone would fade off. I wanted to make sure that it was not the other person phone and a tried with a different phone and the person on the other end voice did not fade off. So is the quality of the phone that is not good.4. There is noise and static on the phone. Unable to hear clearly.5. When speaking on the phone, the other person voice would echo. Again, I tested with another phone that I own, and the person stated there was no longer echo on the conversation. These are my own personal opinion of my experience using the phone.

Good choice for Mom!
Purchased along with the VTech SN5307 Amplified Photo DIAL Accessory Handset.Mom was really struggling with her old Panasonic wireless phones. Buttons were to small, screen hard to read...etc. etc. These seemed like an interesting alternative. Mom couldn't be happier! The picture dual buttons seem a little gimmicky, but they really make using the phone much easier. Simply print some pictures of family, add a Name and insert them into the frames. Then just program the numbers/names and you're ready to go!It's a little annoying that the pictures aren't the same size, buts that's a pretty minor thing. One good tip, keep the names you program into the memory simple - once programmed the caller ID will say the name. User will here "Call from Bob" for example and they can easily decide if they want to answer or not.The accessory handset will have the same four numbers programmed as picture dial on the main phone. You can't dial any other numbers from the accessory handset, but you can answer any incoming calls.Yes, the handsets are both battery hogs, if you leave them off the charger overnight they will low the next morning. Just keep them in the charger and they will be ready when you need them. The voice caller ID is great, if you don't here someone you recognize, just don't answer. The speaker phone on the the base, main handset and accessory handset are all pretty good and the range is great.Overall a great choice for anyone who only needs a few programmed contacts, has trouble pushing little buttons and just wants something simple. The instructions are pretty well written and easy to follow.Definitely recommend!

The menu is complicated for me so there’s no way my mom could work it
Nice Loud sounding on the ear for my mom. Complicated menu. Still can’t figure out how to make it beep instead of talk when she . Base broke twice. Called customer service after one year (within a few days of one year and the warranty was out). Bought another. Same problem. Speaker also went out on the remote phone but still works for phone calls.
