Excellent device, excellent price: See detailed analysis
Out of the box:- Packaging appears sufficient. Unit come with 2 AAA batteries (non-alkaline?).- Carrying case is included with velcro closure which is nice. A lanyard is also included which was immediately upcycled into a cat toy.- The display is in the opposite orientation of the person using it (up-side-down) which makes it a little difficult for self-administered testing as you are to remain still for optimum test results.*NOTE: I recommend disposing of the supplied batteries as they do not appear to be alkaline or better. These batteries are known for low expected battery life cycle and leaking over time and especially with infrequent use. Battery acid can significantly harm electronic components and insulation resulting in premature circuit failure.Operation:- Simple and straight forward, put finger in and go.- Unit will self-power down after a few idle seconds.Accuracy:- Appears to function as advertised. I am going to compare with medical grade equipment and update my review accordingly.UPDATE: compared to hospital equipment, values were within about 1% during 8 minute comparison. I did note that the refresh rate in this unit was actually faster than the professional unit...impressed!Long Term Reliability:- Initial impression based on the visible components and attributes used: - Cover appears to be snap-fit or perhaps sonic welded. - Wires used to connect bottom sensor to logic board in top half are wrapped in tubing and are sightly exposed in the rear of the unit. It is unclear if there is any strain relief on these wires. There is a slight risk of wire continuity failure due to flexure of wires during normal operation (open/ close finger clamp).- Both labeling and device serial number are laser etched. This is a pricey process when compared to standard poly labels and is indicative of an advanced manufacturing facility.- Device is made in China by Contec, an FDA registered company (Reg# 3006979678) whom also make EKG machines and other sophisticated medical devices.Overall Risk for LTR= Low for average consumer usage, LOW-MEDIUM for regular/ vigorous use due to possible wire flexure failure.- Demonstrated LTR is pending use.Overall Verdict:- Good for the average Joe/ Jane and can't beat the price.

Good little pulse oximeter
Purchased this the first time when Covid hit.It lasted for 4 years, and now replaced with the same item.It serves my purpose, and does so very well for a relatively inexpensive product.I don’t need all the bells and whistles, and, if you don’t either, then I think you’ll be pleased with this pulse oximeter.

Nice for the price
I was impressed with the quality and accuracy, especially for the price. Ended up buying one for my mother shortly after getting the first one for myself. After using this for a few weeks, I was provided with an Acc-U-Rate CMS 50DL Gen 2 model (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LNMYUTG) free of charge to review/compare.Packaging: Sure it usually ends up in the trash can fairly quickly but I felt it was worth noting that the Acc-U-Rate was very well packaged, the meter was encased in soft but sturdy medium density foam. The Contec was packaged reasonably well, the box was simple, but did the job. The Acc-U-Rate packaging really stood out,Accessories: The Contec comes with a nice lanyard that includes a detachable clip, which allows you to wear the lanyard around your neck and easily detach the meter without having to remove the lanyard. The Acc-U-Rate also has a lanyard, but it is thinner and does not have a detachable clip section. The Acc-U-Rate comes with a nice silicone cover, which makes the meter a bit easier to handle. Both models come with a nylon carrying case, which are simple but well made.Build Quality: Both models are well built, I've seen some reviews say that these were cheaply made... I think maybe they are comparing to an industrial model, which really isn't a fair comparison.Accuracy: I was initially impressed with the accuracy of the Contec, and the Acc-U-Rate was just as accurate. While both were a little slower to get an initial reading than a professional meter, they both updated at a decent rate, more than sufficient for any home user.Comfort: Both meters stayed in place well. The Acc-U-Rate is a bit more snug, but I haven't had any problems with either meter not staying in place. The inside surface (where your finger sits) is a bit nicer feeling on the Acc-U-Rate model, but neither one is unpleasant.Display: The Contec display faces away from the hand, meaning that it is easiest to read if used on someone else's hand, whereas the Acc-U-Rate display faces towards the hand, meaning it is easiest to read if used on your own hand. There is not much of a price difference between the two. Really comes down to choosing the nicer lanyard and away facing display of the Contec, which are more useful in using the meter on others, or the silicone cover and back facing display of the Acc-U-Rate, which are more useful in using the meter on yourself.I like the Acc-U-Rate better, since I'm mostly wanting to use the meter on myself. My mother likes the Contec since she uses it on other people.

Works well
Bought after checking reviews of this model online (from medical personnel). So far, seems to be accurate and working well. Purchased to potentially check effectiveness of oxygen administration in diving emergencies.
