Dangerous and poorly designed.
Other people have pointed this out, but it deserves repetition. The blades protrude out from the tool. I cut myself the first time I used the tool.Blades should not be exposed like that if there is a simple way to mitigate that risk. And there is a simple way. Comparable tools have guards of various sorts which protect the user. Also, a quality strap cutter has a bit of a recess on the cutting side of the handle to make it easier to push the leather through.Look on YouTube for a video titled 'The Leather Element | Wooden Strap Cutter' to see what I mean about this. A bit after 7 min 10 sec he explains the purpose of the recess.I glued pieces of leather next to where the blade protrudes, which made the tool less dangerous, but it also means I can't cut narrower straps. It just isn't a very good tool.I bought a slightly more expensive tool to replace this one, but there are cheaper tools on Amazon that have safer blade handling and have the recess to make pulling straps easier. If you do order this tool, try and make some sort of guard to protect yourself from the blade.Good luck!

Look for a different brand
First the slots where the blade goes were not all the way through. I had to finish them to make it work. Then the part where the screws went into to hold the blade would come out of the wood while you were screwing them in.

Fine for midweight leather
The inch scale though accurate is in 10ths of an inch not 1/8s. The guidebar is not adhustable for thickness so it will not cut thinner leather. If you try to cut thicker than about 5 or 6 oz leather, the guidebar slips and ruins your cut. Pretty much usless for me.

Good product, but dangerous if you are not experienced
Very good product with the exception of the blade being wider than the slot holder it fits in. You have to constantly be aware of the placement of your fingers when starting a strip as the blade extends / is exposed, at least 1/4” out on each side. That’s a problem as you have to be extremely careful not to slice your finger open, (which I have done several times)! Otherwise, extremely balanced and well built for that price.

Will not work as shipped!!!
The strap cutter does not have a flat washer on the hold down screw. There is no way to lock the cross bar down.

A little unsafe.
The razors included to cut the leather are slightly larger than the insert space for them, leaving about 1/4 inch of exposed razor blade on either side.

Pice of junk
It does not work. Blades did not fit broke when I installed the blade. It is junk wasted money.

The razor blades DO NOT FIT the tool
The razor blades are the wrong size for this tool and peek out on the sides. The holes for the blade to be held in place by the bolts do not line up.
