I bought this book a few weeks ago because I’ll be getting a Golden Retriever soon. This book is so helpful in having a simple to understand step by step process of raising and training a golden retriever. I like that the author has a clear understanding of dog behavior and the Golden Retriever temperament and offers clear steps to address behavioral concerns and train your dog. It talks about what the puppy is mentally ready to learn at each month and how their temperament will change as they grow. Very helpful book and I’m glad I bought it.

This is a wonderful book filled with really good information about the different stages of owning a golden retriever.

Like this book so much I purchased it twice as said Golden Retriever- now 9 months old- ripped the first copy to smithereens!I am constantly referencing this book, it’s full of good information.Rebellious teenager - check! But how could I not love her? She’s perfect.

I was looking for more of a training book and this is more of a book that explains everything about Goldens. It was very informative and easy to ready but I wish there were more images and training tips. I am glad to own this but I should have read more about training guides.

This book is well written and covers everything you can imagine, and not imagine, that goes into training and raising a labrador retriever. It can overwhelm those who have never had a dog, as a puppy or an older dog, which is exactly why the information in this book should be read and carefully considered. If you go out and get a beautiful cute little puppy before you know what to expect you are buying a HUGE MISTAKE !! If you are not ready for the time and patience that it takes to raise any dog, but especially a labrador retriever, get a cute fish or a nice plant. Both you and the dog will be better off. The book is a must read !!

Ordered it as a birthday present for my 11-year old nephew and he really loved it. The books is beautifully illustrated and it is easy to read and follow. It has many recommendations for first-time dog owners. Great investment!

American book, which makes no difference because dogs behave the same the world over and reading in England. Great information throughout, well written. Just what you need to know about your new puppy. Excellent book, I throughly recommend.

Very detailed and lots of super helpful hints and tips. I felt that our Puppy is about six weeks ahead of the schedule outlined in the book but the fact I was ableTo recognize that by the description of behaviors shows that it’s an excellent book!
