I recently bought a bread knife and needed a knife guard so I could put it in my kitchen drawer. The bread knife I bought has a blade that is lover than the handle, so the knife guard needed to be thin and long enough to cover the entire blade. Done and Done! This is perfect. It also holds the blade firmly but is not difficult to slip onto the blade.It's a simple measure, but very effective and the Mercer knife guard performs flawlessly.

Not so much

I wasn't sure exactly how this knife sleeve was made, but thought the knife would be slid into the sleeve, from the end. However, it is more like a clam shell. You can push the blade into the sleeve, from the side. It is very simple, and holds the knife blade nice and tightly. It will really protect the blade of the knife, regardless of where it's stored.

I bought this for a serrated edged knife and it was little rigid at first, meaning it was somewhat difficult to take it off the knife without creating a dangerous situation. After several cycles of putting it on the knife and taking it off it has loosened up to where it's easier to use. Now I hope it doesn't get too loose.
