Mercer Culinary Knife Guard, Black 6 Inch x 1 Inch

I have Mercer knife guards for most of my kitchen knives. My chef's knives are especially sharp. The guards keep me from being cut when reaching into the knife drawer and, equally important, keep the edges from banging into other knives and getting dull. Good value.

We were vacationing in SE Virginia's peanut region and hitting peanut shops when we found an old-school one full of peanuts, hams, "antiques" and assorted junk. I found a box of used butcher breaking knives from a meat-processing plant that had been sharpened to within an inch of their lives--literally. I was in the market for just such a knife and the price was right. I needed a case to transport my "new" knife home, something that would accommodate its long, curved and very well used blade. This case from Mercer fit perfectly and got the job done for a very reasonable price.

I recently purchased very nice Japanese knives. Unfortunately, companies no longer send a sheath to protect their expensive knives SO I had a missing. I am thrilled with how nice these covers are. I wasn’t quite sure how to place the knives in it. With a couple tries I found the very easily go into the pocket, grip them in place and then easily removed. They seem to be a great value for what I paid for them, very sturdy. Although I’ve only had them for 2 days they arrived without scratches and are of adequate weight to protect the blades. I am quite pleased with them

I bought this to go with the Mercer 9 inch bread knife with offset ergonomic handle. I called customer service to make sure first. The guard is a somewhat generic one, made to fit different knives. It is a simple sheath, rectangular, about 2 inches wide and 10 inches long. It is closed on only one of the long sides, with open slots on one of the long sides and on both short sides. It works fine for the knife I bought and completely covers the blade. I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars only because, the way it is made, you have to be very careful when you insert and extract the knife. You must insert the knife with the blade facing the closed side. If you are not holding the sheath properly when you extract the knife, especially if you did not insert it blade facing the closed side, you could pull the knife right out into your hand. I think it would have been better designed if the sheath had only one opening in one short side for inserting the blade. Regardless, it is a good product, does what it is supposed to, its sturdy, and covers the blade while the knife is in the drawer.

Great little knife guard. Not the absolute best on Amazon, but still really really good. And the fact that I can order exactly the guards I need for exactly the knives I own makes these Mercers the best knife guard purchase on Amazon.This is my review for 4x1". I got a super high-end knife set in a beautiful wooden box. The knives are extremely sharp and I immediately learned that I could not just throw them in our utencil drawers. Not only the blade would be banged and up but also we'll all cut our hands trying to reach the knives. They definitely need a dedicated storage space.The wooden box that came with the knives is fancy. But my kitchen space is very limited and I have no place to keep it where I can easily reach and I don't either have a knife block or spot for it. I see many (TV) chefs use those knife rolls so I was looking into it. But I just want it for my new chef's knife and those rolls are for multiple knives.Luckily, Amazon knew what I was looking for and this knife guard popped up on my feed. I've checked similar items from different companies but for some reason, this one was only $3,00! So I said why not and ordered it. I'm glad that I did!This blade guard perfectly fits my 8" Canshang Chef's Knife. Well, the word "perfectly" might not be completely true because it would not cover the whole knife. But it does what it is supposed to do, guard the sharp blade..The opening is rather tight so I have to place the knife slowly and carefully. I was wishing it could be a bit looser so it'd be easier for me to place the knife in the guard. Then I realized if it was too loose, the knife could come apart in the drawer. Because it's tight, it is also secure.This was a great found and works very well for me.

It’s perfect for our Cutco paring knife.

You can see in the photos that it has a printed logo on it. The price is fine, and it works w/ my paring knife just fine. I bought these to keep my knife safe in my camping kit. However, I found it super annoying that it has the big "Mercer" logo and text all over it.

They fit most of the Mercer knives I already had. My wife did not want to keep the knives on the magnetic board. The sheaths protect the blades while in the drawer, also protects out hands from cuts when getting knives out of the drawer.
