Handmade Medium Mug (Cobalt Canyon)

June 30, 2021 Update: It's been nearly 2 years since my review of this mug (Aug 2019), and it has held up perfectly. I am still very careful with it because it is handmade. I've changed my 4 stars to 5.Original review: This mug, Mystic Waters, arrived intact and it is as beautiful as the photos. The aqua color at the top edge is the color of the entire inside of the mug. It is well made, although the bottom isn't perfectly flat so there is a small rocking motion (hence 4 stars instead of 5). I bought this one and Ocean Tide at the same time; Ocean Tide does not rock. The color at the top edge of Ocean tide is the color of the entire inside of the mug (a chocolate brown). The handles feel good in my hand (three fingers fit easily without being crushed together). I ran my fingers over both of them and there were no chips or burrs that I could find, nor could I see any cracks in the glaze. The mug walls are not as thick or as sturdy feeling as I had expected, so at this point, I am not aware as to how they will hold up with use, or how fragile they actually are. So far I have used them for coffee and have microwaved water in them for tea. They are both signed by the artist on the bottom.

Cracked upon arrival and returning. Very lightweight and very fragile mugs - very disappointed. Bought this with 2 of the Mocha designs (which didn't come cracked -- they do wobble a bit). The thinness and fragility of these mugs with a thin handle is an accident waiting to happen -- hate to think what would happen if they were heated up! Keeping the Mocha mugs as pen/pencil holders - the design is nice but this is just too expensive for a non-functioning mug to hold hot drinks. I don't trust using them. This is my first review ever and have been a prime member for a long time and shop at Amazon all the time. I'm fortunate that Amazon is great with customers returns. I'll consider this a lesson not to trust so many of the reviews. This was one of the worst purchase decisions I have made on Amazon!

I simply adore this mug!!! The thumb press isn’t very large, but I don’t put my thumb there anyways so no worries. The colors are vibrant and just beautiful! I get so many compliments on it!

Finally found the perfect mug! - or so I thought. And bought a pair!They both developed serious crazing on the insides. Huge disappointment, especially after paying more than any other mug in my cabinet. Much cheaper mugs have held up many more years than these.I will never be able to get them clean again.Such poor quality craftsmanship for the price.

I'd give 5 stars if I could rate it only on how unique and attractive this cup is -- makes a nice presentation. It was not a perfect cup, there were a few imperfections, but they add character. So, I can overlook the very smooth slightly raised area on the rim, and an indentation on the inside just below the rim. It cannot be easily tipped over, which I like. The 'thumb rest' is a nice touch.The functionality is a problem. 1. The lip of the cup is overly curved, so once half your coffee is consumed, the coffee spills from one or both sides of my mouth. Maybe it's just my mouth, but I can't tip it up very far to consume the last of my coffee without it dripping onto my chin and clothing. Careful does it -- and make sure you have napkins and soda water to take out the stain for your guests . . . and 2. It seems very fragile and light, so I have been extra careful with it, and I haven't had a mishap to chip or break it yet.

These are great mugs! I was looking for something quirky and original, that would fit with our style and color scheme, and that was available in 6 different variations. These fit the bill perfectly. Not only are they beautiful to look at, they are well-made, hand-made, dishwasher and microwave safe and fit comfortably in your hand. They are on the pricey side at around $20 average per mug, but I'd say they're well worth it. They are larger than the average coffee mug, so I could not fit 6 across on my mug holder as I've done with our past mug sets. But, I like how they look in the picture I've included as well and am happy with the size and shape even though it's a little larger than what we are accustomed to. I'm hopeful they continue to wash up well and last well into the future. I feel sure they will as the quality seems top notch. I'd definitely recommend these mugs to anyone who likes this rustic style and enjoys a hug in a mug. :)

This mug is well made. At 16 oz., it's nice and large. I like the shape and feel and heft of the mug. The mug I received, however, is somewhat plain in appearance compared to the mug pictured on the product page. I suppose that because these mugs are hand-made, they will vary in appearance, so that's just something you should be aware of. What you see may not be exactly what you get. I've attached a photo of the mug I received to compare the two.

Some glazing nicer than others. Purchased 6 but had to return 3 for exchange. One was bigger, 2 had noticeable defects ie. holes in glaze. I finally accepted them but not pleased with 2. I do like the color and style. Not keen on the unfinished bottom even though that is where the artists signed each piece. Wish they offered 14 ounces except 16 since they are a bit difficult to hold. If you're looking for a large mug and are willing to spend the high price, they are a unique purchase.
