A great, slightly dry intro to the Vikings
I started out thinking this was too bloodless. But the farther you read, the better it gets. It's a textbook not a popular intro, but all the color a d beauty and horror are there, plus consideration of the sources and acknowledgement of the difficulty of knowing what really happened.

This is a great supplemental, secondary source of a scholarly nature
This is a great supplemental, secondary source of a scholarly nature. I use it as one of my general references for Viking study. A great addition to any viking scholar or enthusiasts collection. I also suggest getting the primary source reader that these same authors offer.

Well written, slightly dull
Language eloquent and perfectly understandable, but the chapter structure is strange and it tends to ramble. Definitely recommended if you enjoy history books, but it’s not as accessible as others in the genre.
