Great Chapter Books for your Young Reader!
We are always looking for chapter books for our daughter (age 7). She has always been an excellent reader reading well above her age group and gets through books quickly. That is great, but challenging when trying to keep up with her and looking for good chapter books for her age. We focus primarily on positive stories and avoid series with less appropriate language or attitudes. The Nancy Drew and the Clue Crew series has been great. It is a fun reboot of the old Nancy Drew stories brought into the present day with more up-to-date stories and technology. They have fun little mysteries focused on younger kids. My daughter has been going through these like water. They keep her interest and really entertain her. The nice thing is that this series has a lot of books available already (40 at the time of this review and more coming) and several collections of multiple books sold at a discount. We always run out of books, so a big series like this is great. Highly Recommended! We are always looking for more chapter books for girls in this age group so here is a list of what we have enjoyed that focus on positive stories in case you are looking for a new series to try:1) Nancy Drew and the Clue Crew (Mysteries)2) The Puppy Place (For your Pet Lovers)3) Anna & Elsa (Frozen Series)4) Never Girls (Disney Fairies Series)5) Whatever After (Princess Series)6) Tales From Pixie Hollow (Older Disney Fairies Series)7) Rainbow Magic (Fairy Series for Younger Readers)8) National Geographic Readers (Non-Fiction, not really a Chapter book but a great way to break into non-fiction)

Nancy Drew Never Disappoints!
I've been slowly building up my library of Nancy Drew and the Clue Crew books for my daughter. She's just learning to read, so I still read these to her for the time being, but she's hooked. She's converted her night stand in her room into the Clue Crew's desk, complete with a pretend computer, notebook, and pen.She has also gotten her best friend hooked on these books, and they developed a cute trading system, so that they don't both buy the same books, and once they finish a book, they trade it with each other for books they haven't read yet!The fun thing about these books is that they're an easy read, the mysteries and plot twists are not so complicated that a young reader or listener can't keep up, the subject matter has so far always been age appropriate as has the writing and themes (ie, no romance, nothing scary, nothing adult, etc), and there are enough clues in the story that your child might actually figure out the mystery before Nancy does (leading to an immense sense of satisfaction for your child). We love these books. Highly recommend them.

Nancy Drew and the Clue Crew #2 "Scream for Ice Cream"
Great Series!! I purchased Books 1-8, for an 8-year old...she absolutely loves them. She enjoys reading, and since she is required to read 30-minutes every night for school, the chapter books come in very handy. She often finds herself reading more than 30-minutes, because she wants to finish a certain chapter, etc. The stories are great, fun, interesting, the illustrations are okay. She looks forward to following the main characters throughout the different series. Also worth mentioning, is the "activity" page within the books; they are projects that can be done later if interested, and if you enjoy doing some craft with your little ones every once in a while, it's a nice addition (sometimes she wants to do them...thankfully not always). Highly recommend the books, and will definitely be purchasing additional series. Scream for Ice Cream (Nancy Drew and the Clue Crew #2)

One sweet mystery!
Young readers being introduced to chapter books will adore Scream for Ice Cream -- a wonderful Nancy Drew mystery. Nancy, Bess and George are The Clue Crew, and they can solve any mystery using deductive reasoning and a super sense of fun and friendship. When an ice cream company in River Heights announces a contest to pick the best recipe for a new flavor, Nancy is sure that her idea for Clue Berry will be a winner. But something goes wrong. A special recipe disappears, and it looks like Nancy and friends will have a lot more on their plate than mere ice cream!Carolyn Keene's books have been entertaining readers for generations, and the Clue Crew series provides a great introduction to the world of mystery!

Scream for Ice Cream
This is the second in the Nancy Drew and the Clue Crew (Nancy and her best friends (and cousins), Bess and George) mystery series, aimed at younger readers - approx 6 - 10, depending upon reading age. The first book in the series was Sleepover Sleuths: 1 (Nancy Drew & the Clue Crew (Quality)) and involved a sleepover and a missing doll. All the books deal with things and situations that little girls will be familiar with and, in this second book, the girls want to win an ice cream competition, held by a local ice-cream factory. Then a secret ice cream recipe is stolen and the girls have to find out who the culprit is.Overall, this is a pleasant introduction to Nancy Drew and mysteries generally. The actual mystery is more a puzzle than anything else, the book is not scary and this is a lovely summer read. There is even an ice cream recipe at the end of the book! Sleepover Sleuths: 1 (Nancy Drew & the Clue Crew (Quality))
