they are capsules , NOT pills. There is powder inside. You could pull them apart and split the powder but way too much trouble.

Does anyone know if this 50mg dose is 50mg of actual zinc picolinate or 50mg of elemental zinc as part of the picolinate?

If you are asking for chelated I'm assuming you are just looking for highly absorbable. This form is the best I have found for good absorption

Does this product have an usp certification? if not, what seal does it carry that is recognized and accepted for vitamins?

No it doesn't say usp ,only laboratory tested .
