Williams 38901 17-Piece 3/4-Inch Drive Shallow 6 Point Socket Set

If you’re in the heavy duty diesel line of work be it commercial trucks or heavy equipment, for me it’s a bit of both. These are a must. Got pricing from the tool trucks Snap on, MAC and Matco really high priced and Cornwell wasn’t that bad on promo but still $400 for sockets that don’t range anywhere close to this set for that kind of money it was easy so I got the Williams. After all I have USA Williams 8 point sockets, metric wrench’s and USA made 3/8 SAE sockets. So I knew I was going to like these sockets and not have any major issues. Downside is the steel carrying case gets all beat up so I just got a socket holder for them and they stay in my tool box with the rest of my sockets.

Received my set of sockets the other day, came nicely packaged are a stout set of sockets, have used them with my IR TI2135 installing and torquing semi lug nuts. no discrepancies so far.Reason only rated as a three, I feel there may be some misrepresentation/misleading in the wording of the add, as all the sockets say Williams not JH Williams. I have a JH Williams socket in my regular/chrome 3/4" drive set to replace one I had broken and right on the socket it says JH Williams Made in the USA.I have now had these sockets for well over a year, so now i feel I can give them an appropriate review, I changed my prvious rating from a three to a five. To date I have not had any issues with this set set. I use these sockets when needed on Tractors an trailers and oilfield equipment. As with any tool as long as you don't abuse them they will be fine.FYI your snap-on dealer/rep may or may not warrenty these items.

This set is tool truck Quality. They feel and looks just like my coworker’s made in USA set that he buy from the Snapon truck like 8 years ago. This set is made in Taiwan but they are good Quality.

They are not made in the USA but they are made to Williams standards. I have used them with my 3/4" drive DeWalt impact at 750FtLbs with no issues. I expect them to last the rest of my career. The steel box is sturdy so it keeps them in a neat order and before I pack up for the day I can tell if anything is missing. Identification is clear with laser marked sides.

This is the Snap-On industrial brand, even if it wasnt these sockets are great. Mine are used in the oilfield on drilling rig equipment, never had a bad experience with this set or this namebrand. The price is a steal.

Like the others the wording is different, I wish I had read all the reviews. I too thought this set was made in USA, instead I get a box that says made in Taiwan. I too would not have ordered, but I have been a mechanic for over 30 years and I know good tools when I see them, so I was impressed with what I got. They look better than my last set which was stolen so we will see.

The snapon truck comes once a week to my shop as probably everyone else's as well. If you ever asked your dealer about 3/4 sets and up. Well the number your gonna hear will shock you (it runs in the thousands) for the price and being a subsidiary of snap on it made more sense to me to get these. I only wish they were deep sockets sometimes.

Nice sockets better then I figured for the price
