Still going strong after years of use
I purchased this monitor back in 2021 and I still use it every day on my main camera rig. The brightness is excellent, and while you can load LUTs into it if that’s your thing, I mainly use it to monitor my shots and expose properly. It’s compact but built like a tank! This monitor has traveled around the world with me and been through some rough conditions, but it’s still working perfectly. I’m genuinely impressed with how durable and reliable it’s been. Definitely worth the money and a solid investment for anyone serious about video production.

Five stars for the seller
This is a great monitor. Brighter and more detailed than Small HD Focus, with which I compared it, but unfortunately I was not lucky and I got a monitor in which the number of dead pixels exceeded the norm. The seller could not know this and check, because he would have to open the factory packaging. I had to return the monitor. The seller supported me in everything and always helped with any question, for which I recommend it to everyone. Five stars for the seller.

This was a huge game changer!
I currently run a Sony A7IV which has a flip out monitor, but I personally prefer an external to make sure everything is crisp and correctly shot. I was in between the ninja or the shinobi and for what I just needed it just came down to the Shinobi. - The build quality on this monitor is surprisingly very lightweight. - Using this monitor in broad daylight I had absolutely no issue at all, it was amazing! - My favorite thing is being able to load custom LUTs. You are able to load your LUTS into an SD card and insert it into the back. - The best thing about this monitor is that I have used a single Sony L battery and that kept me running for over 6 hrs and it was still able to run! I am a run-and-gun type of creative director so this monitor was the best option for me! Also at that price point, it's hard to deny.

Very nice screen, it can get very hot though.
Now the screen when I got it actually popped off right out of the box due to it not being glued on correctly from the manufacturer so I glued it on myself. Everything else has worked fine, and the display is, I have to say, after playing around with it, a must for outside shooting with video. Visibility with the little camera screen on the gh6 doesn't cut it for outside sunny weather, but this external monitor helps a lot with that. I think a cage with a shade flap might even help more. The display unit did get very hot after filming for about 20 minutes, that I could barely touch it with my bare hands on the metal threads on top of the unit. This is a nice monitor, and in the future may get the Ninja as well. However if all you need is a monitor and not one that records, there are probably better value ones out there to purchase. But I plan on sticking with some of the Atmos products for a now and I do like their layout. If you don't mind a 300 price tag, this isn't a bad choice by any means, and even if I get the Ninja down the line, this Shinobi will still be used on likely another camera.

Bright, sharp monitor with typical Atomos tools
I already own the Ninja V and needed a 2nd monitor so I stayed with Atomos to keep the user interfaces mostly the same. Happily, the image is just as good as the Ninja V. It does not come with the NPF to 5.5x2.1mm adapter which comes with the Ninja V, so I purchased one from B&H. It's plasticky, but this is a positive for me because it's light - keeping my gimbal rig lighter than when I was using the Ninja V. It takes less power to run than the Ninja V also. I'd love to pay less, and I certainly could have, but for reasons mentioned, this was the right choice for me. I could get away with 2 Shinobi monitors as I rarely use the recording feature of the Ninja V now that I'm using two BMPCC4K cameras.

Bright, feature rich, and lightweight
I live in sunny Southern California and I love how bright this monitor is in pure daylight. I don't use a hood with it but that's because I don't need one. This is my first Atomos product and it's been a good experience thus far. I use it with the bmpcc 4k and I feel that a monitor of this kind is essential because of that camera's inarticulate screen. The only thing I will mention is a worry with this monitor is how warm/hot it can get after being ON for longer than 5 minutes at a time. If you're shooting in direct sunlight without shade, I would recommend powering this off in between takes. Durability with overheating is a concern of mine, but for now it's been working without any issue.

It turns on whenever it feels like it
I purchased this product like 2 months ago and every time I try to use it, it doesn’t fully turn on. When I need it the most it fails me.. I click on the button and hold onto it for 4 seconds like it says, the logo appears for a split second then shuts off. After waiting maybe a few hours, I try again and it turns on (after I’m done with the job). I’ve been using my 10 year old Marshal Monitor and I guess I’ll use it until it breaks…. Very upset. Wish I could return it but I threw away the box..

Amazing and affordable!
Love this monitor! Looks great even in brightly lit areas. Very light weight and lasted all day with my Sony NP-F970 battery.

I use a BMPCC4K with a shoulder rig Connection Issues (★☆☆☆☆): The first problem I encountered was the incredibly loose connection. It seemed like I had to fiddle with the cables constantly to get a stable signal. This was beyond frustrating and made it nearly unusable. SD Card (★☆☆☆☆): Another major letdown was the inability to read an SD card. I tried multiple cards, but it just wouldn't recognize any of them. Unreliable Power (★☆☆☆☆): Turning it on became a hassle as well. I had to power it on multiple times before it would actually work. Build Quality (★☆☆☆☆): The fastening nut was difficult to work with, and what's worse, I noticed pre-existing scratches on the monitor. It's disappointing. Pros (★★☆☆☆): On a slightly positive note, the monitor is lightweight, making it easy to carry. When it did work, the display quality was decent, offering clear visuals.
