Why is dextrose added?

Dextrose is a sugar made from corn and does have carbs and should not be in this even though the ingredients says first additive is dextrose so this is not a zero calorie sugar

13.05 is pretty cheap! Lowest I’ve gotten the 800 packages is a little under $20.
