G830 2.0 HVLP Gelcoat and Resin Touch-up Spray Gun

The machining of parts was not impressive. Yet it's performance is what counts. I wish the fluid cup were a little larger.

Best touch up gel gun I’ve purchases to date. Sprays great.

When spraying gelcoat with this gun you have to thin it. In fact I would only spray with a non-waxed laminating gelcoat otherwise you have a mess trying to wet sand. I used Duratec High gloss to thin (Fiberglast.com) which also saves effort as you don't need PVA to cure - Duratec will cure it and it requires less wet sanding too. I went the extra mile and purchased DeVilbiss disposal 9 OZ cup system with DPC11 DeKups Adapter all for around $100. This made it easy cleaning up between coats. You'll need a minimum 2 HP 20-30 gallon compressor that puts out at least 5 CFM at 40 PSI. Pancake type compressors will not cut it. Don't ever thin gelcoat with Acetone it degrades the gelcoat and when thinned properly you'll need 4-5 coats to properly cover, do not attempt to gelcoat unless temps are 65 degrees or above.

We use ours with smaller tips that we got years ago mostly for paint. Done some gel coat repairs too. Not the easiest gun to adjust if you are doing finish work. The build is not the best either. Fan adjust, for example, is so loose fitting that it is always rotated out of position. Ours needs parts now, and good luck finding them. I was hoping someone here had suggestions how to get them.
