Wonderful gift for a movie buff
I bought this book for my father. Though it is out dated now he still consults it from time to time as he tends to watch older movies anyway and he seems pleased with the amount of information available within its pages.

Maybe the best guide out there
The Leonard Maltin guide and this one are my favorites, but Video Hound gets the edge due to its amazing indexes. The actor and director indexes are very useful but there are many others too. There are also many films in here that don't make it into Maltin.

Excellent source of information on movies. Very helpful.
We have been very pleased with the VideoHound's Golden Movie Retriever series. It provides detail on movies, actors, directors, etc. The quality reminds me of the Rolling Stone Guide to records in the 1980s. I highly recommend this series.

The Title Says It All
This is the most comprehensive and easy to use movie guide I have found. It has almost everything, including a sense of humor. Once you get to know the authors' tastes in movies, you can predict how you will like a movie with fair accuracy. Rather large, but a definite keeper. I wouldn't be without it.

The Hound of the Movie Reviews
This is my favorite movie guide. The cross referencing is a great help. One note, this is the size of a telephone book (remember those),so find a good spot for it. It's worth the effort.

Best of its Kind I Have Found
I do not know of a better quick reference guide to films. I hate it when I watch a movie and can't remember an actor's name or some other trivial fact. I can go to the internet or my VideoHound. I replaced my 10 year old guide with this edition and am very pleased.

It's a fun book for movie buffs
I love movies, new and old, and this is a fun book to read either prior to watching or after seeing the movie and getting a different perspective. It is, clearly, all a matter of opinion and "no" I do not agree with all the reviews, or, rather, the "number of bones" they allocate. But it is a fun book and I would recommend it to movie lovers.
