Amazing book.
Kazimir is the right hand man to a Don of a Russian Bratva. He was told to go and get a woman who is worth millions, make her his wife so he can claim her inheritance from a relative she didn’t know she had. After they got the inheritance she will be no use to him and he will get rid of her.Sadie is a lonely shy woman who loves to read as it allowed her to escape her life. She was raised in the foster system and while she was growing up she could rely on anyone but herself. She works paycheck to paycheck and barely makes enough money to pay the rent. One day a mysterious man asked her out to dinner after seeing him two other times before. She could not believe someone as handsome as Kazimir would have anything like her. Right before dinner was over she got really sleepy and couldn’t keep her eyes open. He had told her that he would take her home. When she woke up she was being forced to get on a plane. She had no choice as Kazimir told her he would punish her. Will she obey him? How will he make her behave? What role will she play in the Bratva? This is the first book that I have read of Janes. I have really enjoyed it and couldn’t put it down. I will definitely be reading more of her books.

Captivating story!
I haven't read any of Jane Henry's books before and I really enjoyed this one! This bratva, marriage of convenience, forced proximity, dark romance was intense.I loved the explosive chemistry between Sadie and Kazimir! These two could not be more different, yet when they came together they brought out characteristics in each other that only made them better people. The suspense and story had me captivated from the beginning and I had a had time pausing this book.I've enjoyed Wen Ross's work in this past and the narration in this book was amazing. I liked this female voice, but definitely would have preferred a female narration to narrate those parts.Rating: 4/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

SOMETHING DANGEROUS—POWERFUL—MESMERIZING
Once again, Ms. Jane Henry has spun a tale that had me captivated and intrigued as the story unfolds. Nothing everything is as simple as it seems. Intel will have Kazimir with orders to stalk Sadie—what starts as simple encounters, becomes a dinner that leads to an abduction. Now Sadie is held captive by Kazimir. What a roller-coaster ride of intense action, mystery, suspense, angst, and discoveries. Sadie is a very unassuming woman, dresses so bland to stay hidden that her absence may go unnoticed at first. Kazimir is a handsome and commanding man, one that turns woman’s heads, and not easy to forget. When he asks Sadie to dinner, she is confused but he charms her into going, and that is where this story takes off.Abducted—kidnapped—and held prisoner, Sadie is so confused, she was a foster kid, has no family, no friends, struggles to make ends meet, so why her? Kazimir has a job to do and orders to follow. If he can train Sadie along the way, that is a bonus—but what he wasn’t counting on was developing feelings for her.“I do not demand your trust. I demand your compliance.”The story is a fast-paced, action-pack romantic suspense. It has the good, the bad, and the ugly with life and death situations. Sadie is an innocent virgin who has never been kissed, dated, and when it comes to sex, is very naïve. Kazimir is a jaded man who has used and broken so many women training them that when he is with Sadie, she offers so much innocence and first experiences and he is the one to fulfill them. That doesn’t mean he goes easy on her, she will be punished, spanked, and used, against her will at first, but will acquiesce quickly. What happens when things don’t work out as the Bratva expected? Is Sadie now a pawn that is no longer needed? What will happen between her and Kazimir? The story does have explicit sex scenes. It does end with a complete ending.

Parts I loved and Parts I Didn't 3.75 stars
Typically I LOVE all of Jane Henry's books. While I didn't NOT like this one, it wasn't up there with other Jane Henry books I've read. Why? Because though I did love some parts, there were others I didn't, for various reasons. Here's the break-down.In America where the MFC lives. - We learn about the MFC through her eyes as well as the eyes of the MMC. We learn what she's like, her fears and the past that forged her into the person she is. We also learn why the MMC has been watching, studying her. We learn his ultimate goal and how he intends to achieve it. He's already made some progress towards achieving his goal, but too soon he's called back to Russia before he has completed his task. With no time left, he abducts her. I loved this part of the he story. It has so much promise. After the Abduction - In Russia BEFORE the forced wedding. It involves "training" in obedience and submission. While in America, although dominant, the MMC was also kind and attentive to her, trying to gain her trust. Yet once in Russia, he completely changes and goes full-on Dom/trainer mode.."Behave, obey or you'll taste my lash," and she does. He even humiliates her just to show her who's in control. There are some M/S elements in this story and herein lies my problem. The MFC has a history of abuse, degradation and humiliation and it's just not believable that she could be turned on by his touch right after his harsh treatment of her. I did Not like this part, it didn't make sense to me. Moreover, I thought the author missed an opportunity. What opportunity? Well....The author gives us the MFC's history; how she grew up, how no one has ever cared about her, for her. She even mentions the MMC's knowledge of her journal, where she writes her thoughts, her hopes, longings, and how he longs to read it to learn what they are, what makes her tick and to use the knowledge to gain her trust so he can achieve his goal. The reader doesn't learn what's in the journal, but from the MFC's own words and actions we learn that she longs for someone to finally care for her, look out for her. If he'd read her journal right after the abduction, on the plane, (instead of much later), he would have known that continuing what he started in America would have worked much better & faster than the methods he employed in Russia. It would have been a more believable story from beginning to end.In Russia After the Wedding. This part deals with their developing relationship, admiiting they love each other. While he still expects her obedience (it's a safety issue) he softens in his treatment again. He also begins to yearn for a different life. He begins to see his wife might be right about the Pakhan..that he's a monster. He begins to wonder how, and even if, he can get out; because betrayals, and leaving would be seen as a betrayal, means death. But before he can even develop a plan, circumstances change and things become extremely dangerous. He knows he has to get his wife away, but a misunderstood, overheard conversation, causes her to flee with someones help before he can get to her. This part was much better and more in the style of the first part. The added danger and her escape enhance the story. The Escape and the Reunion. In this part, we're with the MFC as she makes her escape with the woman who helps her. We sense their fear of being caught. We're with the MMC during their time apart. We're privy to his emotions, his fears. We witness their reunion and eventual move back to America and get a little of their life there. This part I loved! Not sure why the title "The Bratva's Baby" because the baby and her being pregnant doesn't happen until very late in the book and honestly has little bearing on the story. Utimately, I loved and hated it so I'm giving this one 3.75 stars. (Not typical for a Jane Henry book...I usually rate them much higher.)

Bratva Kidnap Romance
Sadie is a poor quiet unassuming librarian. Little does she know that Kazimir has been charged with kidnapping her for her fortune. His plans to woo her and make her fall for him get ramped up when he has to return to Russia so he needs to take her now. Their plan is to make her marry him and sign her fortune over to him and then the unimaginable will happen next. Meanwhile Sadie is wondering why her when Kazimir starts dominating her and she finds herself falling for him despite her predicament. Jane keeps you turning the pages to see what happens next. If you enjoy a Bratva read with some mystery, twists and turns that you don't see coming you will enjoy this book. There may be some triggers for people therefore heed the authors warnings.

Good Mafia Read
I love a good mafia story and I this was really good. Liked the characters, they were very individual and I could kind of relate to Sadie. Her world got completely turned upside down, I enjoyed the journey and the pace of the story. The only issue I have is how quick it ended, would have liked a bit more added to it, like how Kazimir's final decisions played out with the rest of the mafia.
