Plenty of room cuz they forgot the spoon! LOL

This is the second one of these I have purchased. The bag alone is worth 3/4 of the cost I paid. Many pockets, main zipper rain protected, outside pockets for additional water bottles..The contents are ok. The "pan" is a metal drinking cup and I am not sure it will sit on the stove. There are only 4 pellets for the stove. Seriously consider adding more pellets and a lighter. It is missing a water filter and SOMETHING TO EAT WITH. There is no SPOON or eating utensil of any kind included. (you would think for the money they could add a wooden spoon. LOL) The flashlight is one of the squeeze kind so you can't put it down and have it light the area you are trying to start the stove in or set up "camp". Add a small battery flashlight, put batteries in backward so they don't leak until you need to use it. No cordage of any kind. Things I added to first kit (and there is still plenty of space for more) Knife, eating utensil, cordage, flashlight, larger pan to make sure it sits on top of stove, more stove pellets, Lifestraw water filter, hat, socks, several ziploc bags, far more first aid supplies cuz 32 items won't go far, several more masks and a 1 cup measure. Still room for more. (Didn't add a lighter yet, but it will fit in an outside pocket)I don't think there is 5 days worth of food. There is a huge bag of powdered milk. Sure you can use it on the oatmeal, but you can save the weight of milk powder, add more food and eat the oatmeal without milk. When I add more food I am going to add cook in a pouch variety. To make this kits food last 5 days you will have to measure out part of it, cook it in the cup and pour it into your mouth (remember, no spoon included). There is backpacking food available that you add boiling water to the pouch, let it sit 15 minutes and eat it out of the pouch. That's what I will add, in single serve size, heavy on the protein as only one pouch in this kit has any. This kit has 5 pouches (excluding the milk) and 2 of them are oatmeal. One is Veggie pasta, one is tortilla soup and one is beans and rice. That just doesn't seem like 5 days worth of food to me.Wait, just read the directions on the soup. #1 Boil 4 cups of water. WHAT? kit only has a ONE CUP size container. Guess I am replacing ALL the food with reasonable food prep food. SOoooo if you make it one cup at a time (and have figured out how to move without spilling opened package) it would be 4 servings. So that is 4 lunches. 2 pouches of oatmeal. Boil 3.5 cups or water for each of those...so they aren't 4 servings each...must be why they give you 2 pouches. So 6 servings of oatmeal.both the Beans and Rice and Vegetable pasta require 4 cups of water. So 8 servings of those. They are claiming 5 days survival yet there are only 18 ONE CUP servings of food. Don't know about you, but I eat more than 8 ounces of food for dinner. Not to meantion you will be trying to move about with open pouches of food in your pack. (ziplocs, baby, add ziplocs)

A Great Preparedness Investment

I believe for the price, it is well worth it, but I cannot give it 5 stars because some items seem to be a little frail, but nothing that can't be replaced. Preparedness is the key, most especially in these days and times. Each of my family of four has one backpack and really appreciate the necessary items included, but we will definitely be adding more to it, and there is room to do just that. I would suggest heavy duty plastic bags for when you open the food, as each food item has 4 servings to it, so to preserve that for separate meals, you will need a resealable container. Also our bags contained fuel "blocks" and they need to also be in a heavy duty bag, as the odor is very strong. There is plenty of room for adding necessary clothing and such, so this was a great investment overall. The only true complaint I have is that it took nearly a month to arrive and we were mislead at first, although I was aware it was being shipped "third party" and not Amazon Prime, I ordered on September 25 and was told to expect it by October 4th, but when it did not arrive Oct 4, I sent a email to the Vendor and was told it would arrive on October 11, but that too was a lie, because when I checked again, this time showing it was sent by FedEx, it was not even SHIPPED until Occtober 6, and FedEx was not due to deliver until October 13. so that is when it finally arrived.

this backpack smells REALLY bad! I'm sensitive to chemical smells and all I ...

I haven't reached out to the company yet, but I only got 4 fuel tablets...unless they are supposed to be broken up? They're not that big. Per the Q&A, there are supposed to be 24 tablets. Also, one of the food packages was wrong for my pack and I got a package of tissues. So...not sure if there was a mix up...Looked on their site and saw this."What's included in each pack?32 SERVINGS OF GOURMET ENTRÉES (Including Apple Cinnamon Cereal, Brown Sugar Cereal, Creamy Pasta, Southwest Beans and Rice, Hearty Tortilla Soup, and Whey Milk)5 X 4.227 FL. OZ. WATER POUCHES, PORTABLE STOVE (Including Fuel Tablets)STAINLESS STEEL CUPSQUEEZE FLASHLIGHT5-IN-1 SURVIVAL WHISTLE42 PIECE FIRST AID AND HYGIENE KIT (Including 37 Piece Bandage Kit, N95 Dust Mask, Pocket Tissues3 Wet Naps and Waste Bag) {My kit is 36 pieces, the mask is N149}WATERPROOF MATCHESMYLAR BLANKETEMERGENCY PONCHOPLAYING CARDS"Also, this backpack smells REALLY bad! I'm sensitive to chemical smells and all I smell is vinyl. I'm going to have to use another bag and I can't keep this bag indoors or in my car, as the smell lingers, even after leaving it outside all night long. All the items smell as well, but I'm assuming it will go away after it airs out.The stuff in the bag is okay. Obviously not top of the line stuff at this price point. It would suffice for a few days. It would be a good car emergency kit, although, not sure how the packages of water would hold up in freezing cold temps or really hot days. I would keep them in a ziplock bag in case they burst.UPDATE: Contacted the company. They said items are interchangeable but I should have received the 24 fuel tablets. They stated I have to go through Amazon to get it. I'm sure I'll get taken care of...Amazon has always given me good customer service.
