I wanted a style smaller than a katana or your standard long sword. I wanted something that could be drawn one handed allowing a free hand. Like most sought after women; the sword is beautiful, unique and thick ;). Didn't come overly sharp but that was an easy fix. Price is a lot lower than cheaper looking or functioning swords. The awesome price and very quick (within 15 days) shipping was a very nice bonus. Sword is on the heavier side respectfully and the scabbard is solid enough to use in combat. Looking back I'd still buy this sword. I think the last thing to touch on is the craftsmanship. They say it's "handmade" as do most companies. I see a lot of katanas in stores and when you look at the hilt they often seem very cheaply made. Styrofoam looking handles with wrapping that's threatening to come undone. That being said this sword is very finely put together. Between the wood chosen, the metal engravings/ clasp to the colors chosen, this is a very unique sword.

It is a beautiful blade and I would definitely recommend it for the price. It is much thicker, heavier and sharper even, than I expected, but that's not bad at all, it feels quite sturdy. The cast fittings are pretty good, but they could have done a bit more cleanup on then before assembly. That's really the only drawback that I've noted. The blade color is quite dark, but beautiful, the etching on it is well done and deep. The scabard is solid wood and has satin black finish which contrasts nicely with the satin silver ornamental pieces. All and all, I'd say it's worth the money, and I'd buy it again without a doubt.

I want to start off by saying the measurements in the description are wrong, but it's for the better. The overall length is 30" not 40". The blade is 20.5" not 28". This works SO much better for its overall balance. The blade and handle are thicker than expected, another positive. This thing is really really sturdy. The sheath alone can be used as a weapon because of its weight and quality. Esthetically speaking, this is one of the nicest looking blades I've seen. Very unique and well made. If you're a collector, I highly recommend getting it. Well worth the money. I love it.

It's a neat looking sword, but it is not the sword from the description I read on the Amazon page. The one I received is shorter than the one I wanted. Oops
