Quality eyepiece
I like this eyepiece because it is a high-quality lens, it gives very clear images and has a great field of view. It’s also powerful enough for many deep sky objects, but not too powerful.

As a novice and budgeted observer, I think the Explore Scientific 82 line is a great place to start for someone wanting to enter the world of high-quality, wide angle eyepieces. Sure, there are cheaper alternatives, but with these, you don’t have to worry about upgrading for a long time. They perform excellently and are a great value. While I’d be more hesitant to recommend the more expensive 2” focal lengths (about $250-300) to a beginner like myself, IMO the prices of the 1.25” are just right if you’re willing to splurge (at least for me, it was a splurge) on one or two great eyepieces to add to your collection.

Absolutely Excellent Eyepiece
Bought this eyepiece in 14mm, to complement the 10mm and 20mm Celestron Kellner eyepieces that came with my first telescope, a 102mm Celestron refractor. The quality of this eye piece is far above the eyepieces that came with my scope, so much so it feels like an entirely new instrument! The field of view is fantastic and breathtaking. Looking through either of the Kellners presents only a small patch of sky at any time, and finding faint stars or objects was a serious chore. The field of view on this eyepiece is so wide I can point my scope in the general direction of what i'm looking for and it will almost certainly already be in the FOV. The build quality is durable and high quality, and overall i'm very pleased with this eyepiece. I will definitely be getting more Explore Scientific products in the future.

If you want great views but cannot afford Naglers and such.
Outstanding eyepiece. Much better than my Celestron Ultimas. I use this mainly with my 8inch SCT and my 72mm AT72ED refractor. I can see greater detail than ever, on the Moon, Orion Nebula, Rosetta Nebula, etc. This is a great eyepiece for the price. As you know, buying a nice quality telescope is a waste of money if you don't have some gret eyepieces to go with it. These Explore Scientifics are the perfect solution for people like me, who want to enjoy great views, but cannot afford the Naglers, Pentax and other high dollar EPs.

Good wide-field view
The wide-field view is excellent. The clarity through the eyepiece is about as good as the clarity through my 20mm and 25mm Orion Sirius Plossls which I typically use for wide-field viewing, but I don't have another 14mm eyepiece I can compare it with. The field of view, however, is why I bought this, and that did not disappoint. I use it with an Orion ST80 (with a GSO 2" dual-speed Crayford focuser), an Orion 114mm (4.5") reflector, and an Explore Scientific AR127 f/6.5 achromat refractor. It's a hefty eyepiece, so be prepared to have it add some weight to your setup. Overall, for the price, a very good eyepiece that I enjoy using and will certainly keep.

A very good value for the money
Bought it to take the place of the 2" 82 degree Tele-Vue 20 mm I left in another city. The Explore Scientific is a very nice EP and excellent value for the money (about half the price of the used Tele-Vue when I bought it years ago). Its only drawback is that the eye lens is about half the width of the TV and you have to get really close to it to take in the full FOV. But its contrast and lack of distortion right across the FOV is very, very good.

Very nice eyepiece
Views are broad and very sharp, I will be buying more Explore Scientific eyepieces.

Worth every penny!
63 years old and just now getting into amateur astronomy, i have experienced some trial and error shopping, regardless of the research done prior to making a purchase. Other than my telescope, this eyepiece is money well spent. Well constructed, comfortable , clear... i am gradually updating/ replacing my collection with these!! 5 stars!!!
