Winegard RS-3000 RoadStar Amplified Digital HD RV TV Antenna (4K Ultra-HD Ready, ATSC 3.0 Ready, VHF and UHF, Omni-Directional, Long Range Outdoor Motorhome TV Antenna) - White

Replaced the traditional Winegard batwing directional antenna, as my wife hated the idea of manually tuning the antenna. In fact, it didn't happen if I wasn't there. Built a mount to be able to attach the RS-3000 to the crank up/down tower of the original unit, in order to be able to get some height in challenging reception areas. Did not even try a head-to-head reception comparison to the original unit. Just fired it up in the lowered position, ran a scan, got 48 channels, and that was more than good enough for me, as several channels became view-able that previously were not. It works fine with the existing signal amplifier, so the included amplifier will serve as a spare.12/13/2018 Update to provide an image and description of the diy mount for someone wishing to use it with the former batwing's crank system:An adapter collar is very easy to make with 2"x1/8" aluminum bar. Bend it around the mid-point of the new base, cut length to fit the old mounting collar plus 1.25", and drill two matching holes thru each side of the new collar to match the holes in the old collar for the two mount pins. Now, cut off the base of the new mount as it begins to flare, position the cut-off base into your new collar, drill holes for rivets (making sure the cable from the head will clear the rivets when inserted), smooth all of the edges, set the rivets, align new collar with the old crank tubes, inset the pins, and set the pin locks. Done! Push on the antenna head as you thread the cable through the base, connect, and go. Hopefully the pix is better than one thousand words. 8^)Was it worth it: Absolutely! It sometimes make a huge difference when there might be obstructions blocking fringe signals. Sometimes it only has to raised a few cranks to change from a crummy to a usable signal. It has survived two thousand miles of travel at highway speed, and a small tree branch incident or two, without any issues to date.Overall Experience: As others have said, in a signal rich environment, you can't tell much of a difference between the RoadStar and the batwing. In fringe areas, my wife think that the batwing is far and away the better antenna head, IF, I do the tuning!!!! I agree, but I don't want to bother with tuning, as I don't watch near as much TV. Because of her disappointment with the signal, changing the rating from Five to Three Stars.

I replaced my manufacturer installed antenna with this one after the original batwing style was flopping around on top of my unit barreling down the highway. This mounted up nicely to my original bolt patter so I did not have to drill any holes. Huge benefit staying with the same brand and mount style. I live in an area that has poor FM reception so it was an easy test right off the top. With my old one I was only able to get 5 stations clear enough to use. This unit gave me 17 usable stations, huge! I do not get any digital stations where I live so that had to be tested on the road. Once out and about I can tell you I was able to capture more TV stations by far than before and I did not see any pixelation or scrambled picture like I did before. All and all I can highly recommend this under normal conditions and is far superior to my dealer install batwing. BTW - my original batwing was a 2016 model so we are comparing same brand, same age, same locations. Very happy!

We put it on our RV and are very pleased with this antenna. The reception is very good, as was the traditional antenna. We just wanted a new, lo profile antenna. We ran the wire along the roof, drilling a hole directly over the location of the antenna fixture in the wall. If you have any knowledge of wiring in an RV you can't get to it. So, you need to think outside the box. After running the wire over the roof we then covered it with a rubber wire cover like they use in offices and sealed everything, and then put roof rubber paint over it.

First of all it's a Winegard. They are the best RV roof antennas out there. Purchased this to replace the awful (cheap) antenna that was installed at the factory. Installation is best if you have a fairly high level of mechanical ability. If you don't then please don't try this at home. Your dealer can make the swap in under 30 minutes. Install for me went as expected. Nothing matched up. So it took me an hour to install. But now I have crystal clear reception and no pixilation on all but the two weakest channels.

I live in an rv park about 40 miles outside of town so tv reception is not ideal. I've had 2 other "highly recommended" antennas, one an amplified one with 5 individual antennas and another that is one of the flat ones that hangs on the wall. With these other antennas I would get maybe 10-12 channels that were view able without pixelating. With this antenna I received 79 channels and they were all crystal clear. Some even looked HD clear. Don't waste your time or money on others, this is the one that works.

Everything was fine but: limited range to approximately 50km, the kit does NOT contain the proper mounting bracket to replace the old Winegard "Bat Wing" antennae. My RV repair people had to make 2 trips to my house in order to order the correct mounting plate.

I set up the antenna as directed on my fiver. While parked in my driveway I was able to receive numerous channels. However, we went camping at Medina Lake this past weekend I could only pick up a small number of TV channels. Some of the ones I received like the ION channel were great however most of the others would break up freeze. We will be camping on the Texas coast in a couple of weeks and will see how reception is down there where the land is flat. A disappointment so far but willing to try somemore.

The Winegard works well. The only thing we had trouble with was the cable from the booster to the tv was faulty and did not work. After we work that out it work fine.

I installed this antenna in our RV to replace an older original antenna. The old antenna was pre-digital age but still received some HD stations. I figured the new antenna had to do better since it was designed for HD TV. I was wrong. The new antenna picks up nothing but a few analog stations. We tried it both at home and away on trips. All cables were confirmed working.

Winegard tech was no help
