You better know what you're doing..
I have only one problem with this power supply. The PSU itself is 6A, but the female 5.5x2.1mm plug that this comes with is only about 3A, or maybe even less. I only just found out after 2 months when it failed. I took the plug apart and I could see the destroyed metal inside, just like a blown fuse. I'm just glad it didn't start a fire, and that's exactly why I never left it plugged in unattended.Other than that little bit of garbage, everything works great. You'll just have to buy a better female 5.5x2.1mm if you plan to use more than 2A consistently. My project required 5A to run as fast as it should, and now that I've fixed this plug it's surprising how much quicker it is, since I got used to it running bottlenecked for 2 months.Oh well, I'm new to DIY electronics *Shrug*Anyway, I subtract 2 stars for the inadequate 5.5x2.1mm female plug, because that's just wrong. You provided a weak link. If you knew it wasn't rated for 6A, you sabotaged your customers' projects. Plus it's potentially dangerous, definitely inconvenient, misleading, and a failure that's bound to happen after the amazon return period is over. So yea, You're lucky I'm not leaving a 1 star review. And I subtract another star for the price being too high for what looks and feels like a cheap design. Somehow it does feel both cheap, yet sturdy at the same time. Anyway..It only still gets 2 stars because it does seem to provide good power for my project now that I've diagnosed and fixed the issue that started out as shorting by the way.TL;DR: if you've purchased this PSU and it's shorting, UPGRADE the female plug that it came with. I would be careful what you hook this up to
So.... If you want to take out a surge protected power strip, and lucky not the 1500 APC UPS and the two computers attached to it, plug this baby in. The UPS worked but shut everything down immediately with a fatal error code - lucky no fire, and the attached computers didn't crash the hard drives. I finally got around to using this device, I've seen circuits that protect against surges, as it turn out - they don't protect against a backwards short on the 120v from this device. To be fair, the device did destroy itself before taking out everything else, sort of.I won't be buying this again.

Works well so far
This power supply is being used to feed a Verizon 612 ONT terminal (requiring 12 V, 48 W). The amount of heat given off is minimal (good, since the unit is in a crowded equipment closet). The included female 5.5x2.1mm connector was useful (can connect to anything you want). The power supply has to operate 24 hours a day so reliability is going to be important. So far (after 2 months of operation), so good.

Connector melted
The power supply performed ok, but the connector it came with is not acceptable. I was using this in a 5 amp application, and the connector melted on first use in under a minute.

Works for simple use
I'm only using this to power on a HDD enclosure with a fan and four HDDs, and so far that need has been met. It gets a little warm, which is probably to be expected from a power supply but with other reviews saying it melted is a bit concerning. It feels a bit lighter than other power supplies I've owned of similar specs if that means anything.Only time will tell if it lasts, so I'll probably update this in a few months.

Easy to use, does it's job.
Good option to power a device you would normally have wired in a car. I am using it to power a CB radio I pulled out of my pickup. Works great. Could also be used to power most LED strips, and with the amps it puts out, it could power a LOT of LEDs. If you need 12v and a decent amount of power, this is a good buy.

Replacement Power Supply for Seagate 8TB External Hard Drive
After buying a disappointing power supply for a couple of dollars less (the Facmogu DC 12V 3A) I got this one, and the difference in quality is remarkable. This has OEM-quality wiring, a robust AC cord, and its 6 amp capacity suggests it will run cooler.

It Works
I've been using it for a DIY monitor and it works just fine
