No sound comes from this refrigerator! It is quiet and efficient!
The media could not be loaded. I drive an 18-wheeler for a living and decided to get a compact fridge for my rig. After doing a lot of research, the pick for me was this GE compact refrigerator with freezer! Now this refrigerator sits right next to my bunk so one of the most important aspects that I was looking for in a refrigerator of this size is how quiet it would be.Wow! And I can say that backwards wow! This refrigerator does not make any sound at all! I was totally shocked! I had to put my ear up to the side of the fridge to see if it was working! LolAnd within a couple of hours it was ready to have food put into it!I will say this as a word of caution! if you are having this delivered to your home or to maybe a third party like a UPS store or FedEx store!Make sure it's a reputable delivery service and here's why I say that! Make sure the the carrier of this refrigerator does not transport this product laying on its side! Or after it's delivered make sure that if a third party is holding this for you, that they do not store this on its side! They need to keep it right side up as indicated on the box! Reason being if you put it on the side oil can go into the cooling compressor and then when you start the fridge it will not cool! This is bar none one of the best investments that I've made in an appliance! Yes this is a little more expensive than the typical others that are comparable to the size of this GE fridge! However, if you're looking for a refrigerator that doesn't make any noise this is it!I even sent an email to the GE headquarters in Louisville Kentucky telling them how happy I am with this fridge! Much to my surprise they called me back! Anyway I highly recommend this refrigerator especially if you're looking for something that will not wake you up at night! The extra money for this is definitely worth it trust me!

BEST MINI FRIDGE SOLD!!!
I just got this mini fridge today and as you can see it holds a lot of food. I love it because it has a real freezer. It runs so very quietly that the only way to tell that it’s on is to open it. One of the other advantages is that great little light that comes on when you open the door. I haven’t filled the freezer yet but it’s pretty large (it froze water into ice in an hour)Let me add that before buying this GE model I had a Galanz mini fridge and it sounded like a truck every time the motor turned on.There’s no comparison between the two. The Galanz was a toy this GE is a real honest to god refrigerator. I only wish I had seen the GE first. I could have saved some money. If you’re in the market for a mini fridge don’t waste your time and money on a cheaper model. Spend a few extra bucks and buy yourself a real refrigerator. You’ll be a lot happier. (Now I am going back to watching The Sopranos. Good Night)It’s been two years and I still love this fridge BUT there’s one problem with ALL brands.... they need to design a more efficient, ergonomic door. Most of the doors are useless for storage. I wish they’d get in touch with me so I could make some suggestions.

Great for my needs
*One update to review below: After having this for several months, some frost has begun to form on back wall of refrigerated section, which isn't supposed to happen. Easy to scrape off, but shouldn't be forming there.*Love the separate freezer compartment with its own door, and it fits quite a bit of food. Here's what I have in the freezer right now: one 10-lb. bag of ice, one package of frozen french fries, 5 lunch-size frozen meals (four in the body of the freezer, and the fifth one in the compartment on inside of freezer door). Yes, you will have to put some of the frozen meals on top of the bagged ice until you begin using up enough of the ice to clear more space in the freezer. Here's what I have in the separate refrigerator part below the freezer right now:On the door: one upright half-gallon of milk and a bottle of pepto-bismal next to it; an oval container of margarine in its own compartmentIn the can rack on the door: another oval container of margarine, a small package of salad mushrooms; and a bottle of salad dressing. On top shelf: six 12-oz sodas upright, a package of cheese, 12-oz jar of mayo, 12-oz jar of mustard and box of baking soda. On second shelf: one medium size oval container of leftovers, and a small container of leftoversIn crisper: a second half-gallon of milk lying on its sideMy sodas are nice and cold, ice cream freezes well and so do frozen dinners and ice cubes.Appliance is quiet.Freezer is manual defrost, but can be done in 15 minutes if you don't let too much frost accumulate. Turn off refrigerator (dial for both fridge and freezer is located in refrigerator section) and remove food from freezer. I use a hot towel to melt/wipe out the ice, then dry thoroughly. Then turn refrigerator back on and put the food back in the freezer. Once every 2 weeks or so might be often enough to defrost, just keep a watch on the amount of frost. The price was great. I am very happy with this product.

Runs perfect
Update: Four years later and still running perfect!!I've had this for almost a month now and it runs like a dream. It keeps a constant temp which is vital for insulin. It is almost absolutely silent. I have to stick my ear on the fridge to hear if it is running. I love that the freezer is separate. It looks, feels, and runs like a proper large household fridge!Arrived in perfect condition.Don't waste your time on looking any further for a mini fridge, this is it.
